Easter is
coming
says Clark
Continued from page 14
leave sadness, we have to make
peace with it and in joy discover a
happiness that is greater than what
has been.
For me, that has meant
rediscovering my old faith made
fresh by the return to country roads
and country ways, new friends who
have added laughter and support and
inspiration in my life and new ways
of engaging community, my
community, in the peace and love of
Christ.
I recall after Brussels United co-
sponsored the live streaming of the
final Tragically Hip concert, that an
attender asked me with surprise and
wonder, "You mean this was the
church's idea?" I said yes, aware
that one kind of Easter moment had
come that attender. This is new life
and a resurrection of what people
expect from Christ and those who
follow him.
Easter began with Christ arising
alive from death. But today we see
that Easter didn't stop there, it was
the beginning: of all of us our facing
our Good Fridays; all of us waiting
and wondering about if we'll ever
feel alive again; and of all us being
surprised by resurrection in our
lives. Easter is the unfolding of what
we could not or dared not imagine in
our lives. It is part of a continuing
cycle of joy to sadness to joy again.
I'd like to be happier this Easter.
I'd like to be getting ready for the
new challenges ahead but with every
box of books I pack there is the ache
of Good Friday. I know Easter is
coming, but not quite yet. I'm in
between and trying to make it
business as usual... it's just not.
Peace, Gary.
