Curling club celebrates year with potluck, awards

The Brussels Curling Club held its annual awards evening and potluck dinner on Friday night.

Achievement day set for 4-H club
The last meeting of the Wawanosh
Rolling Stones was held on Monday,
March 20 at the Wingham Golf and
Curling Club.
To begin, Brooklyn Hendricks
opened the meeting with the 4-H
pledge. Next, the club did roll call,
which was, "What skill did you find
easy to carry out when curling?
Which skill was hard for you?"
Megan and Lauran Todd gave
members the meeting minutes from

the last meeting. After, members and
leaders talked about what they
would do for the achievement day.
The club decided on a mini bonspiel,
which is a little curling tournament
where members could bring a friend.
Following that, members
completed a page in their books
about true -or -false facts in curling.
Then, members went down to the ice
and played some mini games.
When curling was finished,
Brooklyn closed the meeting with
the 4-H motto. Members enjoyed
snacks provided by Loretta Higgins
and Zachary Walden.
Achievement day will be held on
Monday, March 27 at the Wingham
Golf and Curling Club at 7 p.m.

The Brussels Curling Club held its
annual potluck dinner and awards
evening an Friday night at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre. There were
about 50 people in attendance to
enjoy the social time prior to the
bounteous meal. Outgoing President
Jeff Cardiff welcomed all and Don
Chesher said grace prior to eating.
Following the meal Jeff presented
awards to the winning teams.
The first draw winners were
Matthew Cardiff and Brian Warwick
and Sandra Cable; second draw,
Steve Steiss with Don Chesher and
Sandra Cable; third, Steve Knight
and Ken Penfound and Cody
Sanders. The Knight team was the
overall high winner for the year and
was presented with the D.A. Rann
trophy. The teams had their pictures
taken and many great jokes were
told.
Jeff thanked all who had made the
year go so smoothly and door prizes
were drawn. Jeff presented four
ladies with flowers for their efforts
during the past year. He gave Dona
Knight, Donna Bauer, Marni Knight
and Jo -Ann McDonald flowers. Don
Chesher thanked Jeff for all his hard
work over the year and wished
everyone a great summer and hopes
everyone returns to curling next year
and that they might even bring a
friend.

The fee schedule shall be as follows:

$20.00 per dog
$30.00 per dog
2. Pit bulls, Pit bull crosses, Staffordshire terriers
FIRST DOG $100.00 per dog
ALL OTHERS $110.00 per dog
3. Kennel Licence Fee $85.00
(for a kennel of dogs that are registered or
eligible for registration under the Animal Pedigree Act)
4. Late Payment Charge $20.00 per dog
(Shall be assessed in addition to the licence fee,
if the licence and/or tag is not purchased by April 28)
Excrement:
The By-law requires dog owners to forthwith remove excrement
left by a dog, from property other than the premises of the owner
of the dog.
Any person contravening this provision is subject to a $125 fee.
