(Denny scoff photo) Holy Week event set for April 9 Greeting at Blyth United Church on the second Sunday of Lent, March 12, were Deb Hakkers and Marilyn Craig, ushering were Karen Glousher and Lavern Clark. Susanna Lyman was guest organist and Katie Dockstader was choir director while Fred Hakkers ran the Power Point. Barb Richmond welcomed everyone to church and drew attention to the announcements printed in the bulletin. Special attention that Mary Ross will be at the church for the children next week. The Sunday school is hosting a lunch after the service on March 26. She reminded everyone of the Walk Through Holy Week on Sunday, April 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. beginning at the Huron Chapel in Auburn and ending at Trinity Anglican Church in Blyth. Each church will have a 15 minute service. The walk will take you from Palm Sunday to the Crucifixion. David Onn and Emily Phillips lit the Lenten candles along with the Christ candle and the other candle on the altar table. The prayer of approach was said responsively followed by the singing of the hymn "Spirit Open My Heart." Rev. Gary Clark invited everyone to greet one another. The next hymn "Here, Oh My Lord, I See thee Face to Face" was sung. Rev. Clark invited everyone to the communion table followed by the prayer of thanksgiving and the singing of the Lord's Prayer. Sharon Dalton, Emily Phillips and Mary Lou Stewart served the congregation and the choir the bread and wine. The last verses of the hymn "Here, Oh My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face" was sung. The scripture reading was from Matthew 26:17-30, the story of Jesus telling His disciples that one of them would betray Him. The children were asked to come to the front for their story time. Rev. Clark asked the children if they could tell him what an apple tasted like? Some answers were it is sweet, some are sour, some are juicy. He told them that the best way to find out what an apple tastes like is to taste it and find out for yourself. Forgiveness is the same way. When we forgive someone we feel better about ourselves. They said a prayer along with Rev. Clark and the congregation and went downstairs for their time of fellowship. The choir sang the anthem "Lord Be with Us On This Day." Rev. Clark's message to the congregation was "The Table is Set, Bring a Friend." The scripture was about Jesus talking with His disciples. The disciples ask Jesus what He wants them to do. He asks them to prepare a meal to celebrate passover. Jesus tells His disciples that one of them at the table will betray Him. Jesus tells us that we all are forgiven and that we must forgive others. The hymn "As We Gather at Your Table" was sung. The offering was received followed by the offertory response "Grant Us God the Grace," the offertory prayer, the prayers for the people and silent prayers. The last hymn "0 God How We Have Wandered" was sung followed by the benediction and the singing of verse 1 of the hymn "0 Jesus I have Promised." Everyone was invited for coffee, snacks and fellowship after the service. ), NORTH HURON Township of North Huron Notice of Public Meeting Under subsection 7(6) of The Building Code Act 1992 S.O. 1992 Chapter 23 as amended, a Public Meeting will be held during the Council meeting on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Township of North Huron Council Chambers to review and consider proposed changes to Schedule "A" of By-law No. 19-2015, being the By -Law Respecting Construction, Demolition, and Change of Use Permits and Inspections. (J.R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book -- a Year's Daily Readings") "The Lord has heard all your grumblings against Him!" Exodus 16:8 Does God really hear every discontented word which I ever speak? Does He hear when I grumble about the weather... about the hard winter about the late spring about the dry summer, about the wet harvest? Does He hear when I grumble... about the frosts, about the drought, about the high winds, about the storms? Does He hear when I grumble... about my circumstances, about the hardness of my lot, about my losses and disappointments? If we could get into our heart, and keep there continually, the consciousness that God hears every word we speak --would we murmur and complain so much as we now do? We are careful never to speak words which would give pain to the hearts of those we love. Are we as careful not to say anything that we grieve our heavenly Father? "I tell you this --that you must give an account on judgment day of every idle word you speak!" Matthew 12:36 "He who complains of the weather --complains of the God who ordains the weather!"
