Melville Guild meets The February meeting of the Melville Guild and Women's Missionary Society was held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 with eight members present. The W.M.S. Purpose was repeated in unison to open the meeting. "Love" was the theme for this Valentine's Day month meeting with the church parlour decorated for the occasion. Elaine Armstrong read Ezekiel 36:26. The hymn "They'll know we are Christians by our love" was sung. Scripture 1 John 4:7-21 "God's Love and Ours" was read in unison. Mary Douma gave the topic "The Envelope" and how God envelopes us tight in His love. The different parts of an envelope were explained and the importance of each as is our love from and in Christ in our everyday lives. Elaine then told members of a unique way a Welland man proposed marriage to his girlfriend by posting "I Love You" signs around the town. Later he posted time and date signs for a meeting. When she arrived, he asked for hand in marriage! Elaine led in prayer and the Mizpah Benediction was repeated in unison to close the worship portion of the meeting. Elaine presided over the business which was that the World Day of Prayer service would be held Friday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church in Brussels. Three ladies volunteered to help with the worship service. The Mission Awareness Sunday will be held on Sunday, May 7 with the ladies of this group conducting the morning service at Melville Presbyterian Church. The Springtime Supper is set for April 30 and the prices will remain the same as last year. This year, the Melville ladies are responsible for the lunch during Holy Week on Tuesday, April 11 being held at the United Church.
