Melville Guild meets
The February meeting of the
Melville Guild and Women's
Missionary Society was held on
Tuesday, Feb. 21 with eight
members present.
The W.M.S. Purpose was repeated
in unison to open the meeting.
"Love" was the theme for this
Valentine's Day month meeting with
the church parlour decorated for the
occasion.
Elaine Armstrong read Ezekiel
36:26. The hymn "They'll know we
are Christians by our love" was
sung. Scripture 1 John 4:7-21
"God's Love and Ours" was read in
unison.
Mary Douma gave the topic "The
Envelope" and how God envelopes
us tight in His love. The different
parts of an envelope were explained
and the importance of each as is our
love from and in Christ in our
everyday lives.
Elaine then told members of a
unique way a Welland man proposed
marriage to his girlfriend by posting
"I Love You" signs around the town.
Later he posted time and date signs
for a meeting. When she arrived, he
asked for hand in marriage!
Elaine led in prayer and the
Mizpah Benediction was repeated in
unison to close the worship portion
of the meeting. Elaine presided over
the business which was that the
World Day of Prayer service would
be held Friday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m.
at St. Ambrose Church in Brussels.
Three ladies volunteered to help
with the worship service.
The Mission Awareness Sunday
will be held on Sunday, May 7 with
the ladies of this group conducting
the morning service at Melville
Presbyterian Church.
The Springtime Supper is set for
April 30 and the prices will remain
the same as last year.
This year, the Melville ladies are
responsible for the lunch during
Holy Week on Tuesday, April 11
being held at the United Church.
Marc Fraser, our interim moderator
will be preaching there on
