From the Minister's Study It's time to trust in Jesus says Royall By Pastor Mark Royall Huron Chapel, Auburn One day last week, I was driving to the church listening to a Christian radio station when a song by the group Third Day came on. The song is entitled, "Trust In Jesus" and the singer begins with these words, "One of these days we all will stand in judgment for every single word that we have spoken." I suddenly found myself thinking about every word I had spoken. I know not all of them would have been good or helpful. The song continues... "One of these days we all will stand before the Lord. Give a reason for everything we've done." Now I am thinking about the sins I had committed over my lifetime. And there are parts of my life I wish I could do over again. As I am driving along thinking back over my sins, the enemy was now accusing me. He brings those sins back to my mind. How could I Eagleson hired North Huron Township has engaged Phil Eagleson, the fire chief from Saugeen Shores, to help hire the township's replacement for exiting Fire Department of North Huron Chief, David Sparling. When Sparling tendered his resignation, he had suggested Tony Mintoff as an ideal candidate to help find a new Director of Fire and Emergency Services for the municipality, however council wanted non -fire and emergency services senior staff to search for additional candidates. Mintoff had been hired by the municipality in the past to help with recruiting senior fire professionals resulting in the hiring of the late John Black and Sparling. Chief Administrative Officer Sharon Chambers reported that she had not had much luck in pursuing other options. "Mintoff couldn't provide a quote [for assisting with the hiring process]," she said, explaining that it was due to medical reasons. "I talked to Phil Eagleson, who has assisted other municipalities in the hiring process. He's very knowledgeable." Recruitment services were also considered, however, coming in at approximately $21,000, they were deemed too expensive. A press release was later issues stating that Eagleson had been selected and was hoping to find a replacement by March 31. (former Church of God) Pastor: Ernest Dow - 519-523-4848 getlivingwater.org ever justify my selfishness and disobedience before God on that day when I stand before Him in judgment? How I can stand before God on that day of judgment and say to Him, "Receive me into your kingdom," when I know I am not worthy of it. I think the writer of this song must have struggled with some of the same thoughts for he continues the song singing, "And what I've done is Trust in Jesus, my great Deliverer, my strong Defender, the Son of God. I trust in Jesus Blessed Redeemer My Lord forever." My somber looking face now broke into a smile. With one hand on the steering wheel, the other was raised in the air thanking Jesus because I am able to make this same decision. I, too, can trust in Jesus. People talk about religions being the same but God sent only One to save us. God did it because He loves me and He loves you. The first Bible verse I ever memorized as a kid was John 3:16 where we hear this, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Only Jesus went to the cross to pay a debt He didn't owe because my sin gave me a debt I couldn't pay. Only Jesus died and then rose again conquering death. So only Jesus can say, "Follow Me and you too can have victory over death and live forever with Me in heaven." My sins will scream at me saying, "Mark, you are not worthy". But God responded with His Son Jesus Christ saying, "Mark, you are worth it" Because what Jesus did for me on the cross, I am no longer defined by my sins. I am now defined by my Redeemer. I had asked Him to forgive me. Those sins are no longer on my account. The debt has been paid! 1 can rejoice with this truth we 6,Vou re Jnvitea a join 2ts Jn Wors/i p SUNDAYS Morning Service Evening Service 10:00 am 7:30 pm BLYTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH Minister: Pastor Gary van Leeuwen Hwy. 4, Blyth www.blythcrc.ca 519-523-4743 ANGLICAN PARISH OF NEW BEGINNINGS BLYTH Trinity , 9:15 am Church Office 519-357-4883 BRUSSELS St. John's 11:15 am Church Office 519-887-6862 Everyone Welcome! For every Christian this judgment is already past. As the hymn says, Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." Because of this I am doing today what the Bible says in Peter 1:13, "...set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ". 1 Peter 1:13 So when Jesus comes at this time of revelation to judge and examine how we lived our life, we will be able to, as the song writer said, "Trust in Jesus, my great Deliverer, my strong Defender, the Son of God." ,, BRUSSELS phi United Church WORSHIP SERVICE AND SUNDAY SCHOOL 10:00 am Bulletin notices: 519-523-4224 blythunited@tcc.on.ca Church bookings: 519-887-6377 R Everyone welcome Minister: Rev.
