and Me." The scripture reading was
from Matthew 5:13-20. Hilary asked
the children to come to the front for
their storytime. She asked the
Seip wants expenses
reported regularly
Councillor Trevor Seip wants all
North Huron staff to apply for work-
related reimbursements on a more
regular basis to provide stable and
predictable budget numbers for the
municipality.
During a council meeting late last
month, Seip was surprised by some
of the numbers in the monthly
accounts due to expenses.
"I don't know if staff add them all
up for six months, but that makes it
hard for us," he said. "It's tough to
have a three- or six-month hit in one
particular month."
Seip said, regardless of which

North Huron Chief Administrative
Officer Sharon Chambers explained
the municipality is looking at a new
payroll experience for staff, citing
her own experience with other
municipalities.
"The process has been that
mileage and expenditures are
submitted each pay and I would like
to work with that and make sure
expenses are reported," she said.

not affect taxes and I would like a
process that would make sure they

children what salt was used for.
Many answers came forth. It made
things taste better, it melted the ice
and farmers used salt licks for their
livestock.
Jesus tells us we are the salt of the
earth. They lit the Christ candle
representing that Christ is the light
of the world. The hymn "Let There
Be Light" was sung as the children
went downstairs for their time of
fellowship.
Hilary's message to the
congregation was "There's More to
Salt than the Flavour." Hilary told us
of her experience of one of her
placements. She was told that the
congregation was the "salt of the
earth" people. They were a kind,
honest and hard working
congregation. When she arrived they
were just that. They were amazing,
solid citizens. Salt in the right
amount is a good thing. Jesus tells us
we are the salt of the earth." Salt is a
preservative. In Jesus' time everyone
salted their meat to preserve it.
Christ in the church is very much
alive today, we have to exercise it
and show we are a people of faith.
There is always something to
destroy our good intentions. Jesus
tells us that we are the salt of the
earth when we trust in Him. The
hymn "How Sweet the Name of
Jesus Sounds" was sung. The
offering was received followed by
the offertory response "In Gratitude
and Humble Trust," the offertory
prayer, the prayers for the people,
silent prayers and the singing of the
Lord's Prayer. The last hymn "I
Love to Tell the Story" was followed
by the Benediction and the singing
of the response `Amen, Hallelujah."
Everyone was invited for coffee
and treats and conversation with
Hilary.

Taylor said she was honoured just
to be nominated.
"There are so many great people
involved in so many great things
across the county, so, for me to be
recognized like this was incredible,"
she said.
Taylor has no idea who nominated
her, but she is hoping to find out at
the awards ceremony at the
Goderich Legion on Friday evening.
Taylor has been aware of the
awards for some time, especially the
Corporal Matthew Dinning Award
given annually to a volunteer
working with veterans.
Aside from being a part of many
local Legion projects, Taylor is the
Royal Canadian Legion District 'C'
track and field chair.
"I've been keeping that program
going for the 50 branches in our
area," she said. "I organize the track
and field meet... and I organize a trip
for 40 to 46 teens aged 12 to 16 to go
to the provincial meet after that.
Then I chaperone for the national
event, taking a 40 -person team to the
Canadian event."
Taylor says she likes to be
involved with youth and making sure
these programs continue on is
important to her.
Being the chair of the Blyth 140th
committee also keeps her busy. The
committee is marking the 140th
anniversary of the village's founding
with events throughout the year.
Other Order of the Good
Samaritan award recipients include
Robert Smith, Canadian Forces
Decoration, of Mississauga who
received the Corporal Matthew
Dinning Award for volunteering for
veterans, Ryan Miller of Zurich who
received the Police Constable Vu
Pham Award for youth volunteering,
Police Constable Ward Smith of
Goderich who received the
Paramedic Paul Patterson Award for
lifesaving and Doug Cruickshank of
Goderich who received the Police
Constable Bruce Crew Award for
sportsmanship.

It is not the glory of the place
— it is the beauty of the Person!
(Archibald Brown, "With Christ!")
"My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better!"
Philippians 1:23
Paul does not say, "I have a desire to depart, and to be in Heaven."
Oh no! It is far better than that.
Nor is it, "I have a desire to depart and to be free of troubles."
No, it is, "My desire is to depart and be with Christ!"
"With Christ! With Christ! This honey in the mouth, and the more often
you turn it over, the sweeter it becomes!
Heaven is not merely a place of golden streets, and pinnacles glittering
with the jewels. No! That is not enough for the believer. It is, "With
Christ!" All the pearly gates, and all the seraphic praises — fail to make
the Heaven of our desire. Our Heaven is to "be with Christ!" It is not the
glory of the place — it is the beauty of the Person!
"With Christ!" Oh, how shall I illustrate it? It is the magnet that makes the
soul tremble, and will not let it rest until it points true towards it.
"With Christ!" Yes, that is the distant haven on which the mariner gazes as
the ship rocks and reels, as the timbers creak, and as the storm blast
whistles through the rigging.
"With Christ!" These words are the trumpet note that awakens all the
heroism in a Christian's soul, and makes him willing to dash into the
thickest part of the fray. He says, "I can fight my way through ten thousand
foes, for on the other side it is with Christ!"
