It has been a week of sadness
around Brussels with three families
losing loved ones. Our condolences
to Murray Pepper on the passing of
his sister-in-law Joy Pepper. She will
be missed by her husband Mervyn.
Our sympathies to all.
Our sympathies are extended to
the Ducharme family on the loss of
Oscar Ducharme. He will be missed
by his wife Dorothea and children
Murray, Kim and Greg and their

weekend, which included a ribbon -cutting ceremony on

families of nine grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren. He will
also be missed by his siblings Pat,
Sharon, Barb, Leslie and Darwin and
sister-in-law Donna Fisher and Mel
McArter. Oscar was a long-time
employee of Champion in Goderich
and after closing worked at many
different agri-related jobs in sales or
driving. Always friendly when we
would meet on the street and have a
quick chat, he always had a smile.
Our condolences to all.
Our sympathies are extended to
Jim Armstrong and family Robert,
Bruce, Brian and Leanne on the loss
of wife and mother Leona
Armstrong. She will be missed by
her nine grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. She will also be
missed by sisters Helen and Doris.
Leona gave unconditionally to her
family and extended her generosity
of time to her community. Brussels
and area will all feel a sense of loss
with her passing. She was a "Wonder
Woman" who championed many
causes and belonged to many
groups. She loved her political
career and her time given for the
constituents she represented. Always
ready to assist at the Brussels
Agricultural Society, Huronlea
Volunteer Auxiliary, Majestic
Womens Institute, dedicated
member of Melville Presbyterian
Church, Womens's Guild and choir
member, she loved to garden and
belonged to the Brussels
Horticultural Society and created
many arrangements for functions.
She was always on the go to a
meeting, pilates, dining for seniors,
appointments, hosting social
AD CENTRAL
functions, travelling and of late
doctor appointments. When it came
to making a hair appointment, the
always -present date book, with most
everyday filled, had to be checked
for an open time to fit it in. Always
pleasant and smiling and interested
in what others were doing, she truly
was a wonderful women. Our
condolences to Jim and family.
Congratulations to Ryan Jacklin
on another successful athletic
milestone. Ryan attended the Youth
National Track and Field event in
Brandon, Manitoba. He won gold in
discus and hammer throw and a
bronze in shot put.
Returning from a week-long
vacation to Alaska are Neil and
Marie, Sarah and Claire Mitchell
and Laura Barbour. They flew to
Vancouver and boarded the cruise
ship, Celebrity Infinity, for the
journey up the coastline of British
Columbia. They enjoyed the
beautiful scenery, glaciers, a whale
breeching entirely out of the water,
other marine life and some very
quiet and relaxing moments.They
had a couple of days of rain but
some awesome sunny days while at
ports of call.
The girls did some side trips like
ziplining and kayaking. They went
to a salmon hatchery and also
witnessed the migrating of the
salmon with full streams of them
heading up river to spawn. Other
wildlife included a cute little bear
cub — but no mother in sight, which
was good with them!
