Obituaries
MARIAN ELIZABETH ZINN
Marian Elizabeth Zinn of
Lucknow passed away peacefully at
Sepoy Manor on Sunday, Aug. 5,
2018 at the age of 91.
She was the beloved wife of
Warren Zinn for 67 years. Marian
was the dear mother of Diane (Ron)
Ferguson, Blyth; Terry (Colleen)
Zinn, Ashfield Township and Paul
Zinn (Lynn Johnston), Lucknow.
She will be greatly missed by
grandchildren Kimberley, Toronto;
Jeffrey (Tanis Glanville), Gorrie;
Eric and Jenna, both of Ashfield
Township; great-grandchild Bodie
Ferguson, her sisters Margaret
Keith, Goderich and Belle Hackett,
Lucknow; sister-in-law Donna Zinn,
Stratford and brother-in-law Murray
Tuck. She will also be missed by
many nieces and nephews, as well as
many fellow historians and friends.
Marian was predeceased by
parents Douglas and Sadie Graham,
sister Gladys Tuck and brothers-in-
law Chester Hackett, Evan Keith and
Clarke Zinn.
Marian was born in Kinloss
Township on July 8, 1927. She was
a long-time resident of Ashfield and
West Wawanosh Townships and
Lucknow for the past five years. She
attended Crewe, Blake and Trinity
United Churches, where she taught
Sunday School and was treasurer
and secretary of the United Church
Women for 25 years. Her love of
education led her to be an Ashfield
Area School Board Trustee in 1964
and Huron Board of Education
Trustee for 1969 — 1982.
Marian was deeply involved in her
community as a Life Member of the
Dungannon WI and Tweedsmuir
Curator for 30 years. She
volunteered as a director for the
Huron County Heart and Stroke and
was on the Board of Governors for
the Wingham and District Hospital
from 1983-1994.
Her interest in local gardening and
agriculture led her to volunteer with
the Lucknow Horticulture Society
and Lucknow Agricultural Society.
She was honoured to be involved as
a director with the Blyth Centre for
the Arts attending plays for years.
Marian's true passion was local
history, she chaired and co-chaired
several committees, with many
volunteers, researching for history
books in Ashfield, West Wawanosh
and Kinloss. The final book she
completed was the history of East
Ashfield in 2018.
For 25 years she worked with
Warren as his secretary in the real
estate business welcoming many
new people to the Dungannon and
Lucknow area. Marian and Warren,
with family and friends, travelled to
many countries on farm, history and
garden tours. She spent countless
hours in her rose gardens, which
were admired by many. As a local
historian, her vast knowledge of
local history and cemeteries will be
missed.
Her loving family held the
visitation and funeral at the
Lucknow Community Centre on
Wednesday, Aug. 8 and Thursday,
Aug. 9. Interment was at Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.
Donations to the Greenhill and
South Kinloss Cemeteries and
Trinity United Church, Ashfield are
greatly appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.

NELSON EARL CALDWELL
He came into the world on Oct. 6,
1959 and on Aug. 6, 2018, Nelson
Earl Caldwell ended his journey of
life, with family at his side. He was
in his 59th year.
The proud father of Johnathan
(friend Melissa (Missy) Dougherty),
Jared of Goderich and Jordon (and
friend Harry Sehmi) of Guelph.
Nelson also left behind two
granddaughters, Alyssa Caldwell
and Myah, and special little boy
Mason.
He will be missed by the boys'
mother Donna Caldwell of
Goderich. Left to mourn are sisters
Lorna (Randy) Fraser, Gail Caldwell
of Blyth, brother Trent Caldwell of
Goderich and half sister Jackie
Caldwell of Vanastra.
Nelson leaves behind in-laws Rick
Maize, Debbie (Jim) Robertson,
Randy (Patti) Maize, Ron (Lori)
Maize, Rob (Lavonne) Maize and
Chris (Kendall) Maize.
He will be missed by several
nieces and nephews, along with his
parents Jack Caldwell of Seaforth,
and Evelyn Robichaud of New
Brunswick.
Nelson was predeceased by
grandparents Earl and Margaret
Caldwell, Arthur and Gladys
Hallam, uncle Gerald Govier,
nephew Karl Ulch, his in-laws John
and Mary Maize and sister-in-law
Diane Maize.
Nelson graduated from Blyth
Public School and he attended
Central Huron Secondary School in
Clinton. At a young age he began
working for a living. He worked
several years for Art's Landscaping.
Then he worked for and retired from
the Town of Goderich Works
Department.
He enjoyed karate, snowmobiling,
biking, kayaking, music and
gardening. When he retired he
started painting signs and other artsy
creations. Nelson had a big heart,
helping family and friends with any
job. He enjoyed life to the end.
Cremation has taken place with a
private family interment at the Blyth
Union Cemetery. A Celebration of
Life took place on Saturday, Aug. 11
at the Goderich Legion.
Donations to the Out of the Cold
Homeless shelter or a charity of
one's choice would be appreciated.
OSCAR ANTHONY
DUCHARME
Oscar Anthony Ducharme passed
away peacefully at Huron
Residential Hospice on Saturday,
Aug. 4, 2018 surrounded by family.
He was in his 79th year.
Oscar was the beloved husband of
Dorothea Ducharme (McArter) for
59 years and loving dad of Murray,
Kim and Greg and Nanci.
He was grandfather of Jeff and
Michelle McNichol, Tilynn
Ducharme and Jacob Collison,
Wyatt Ducharme and Carlie
Ducharme, Amelia and Adam
Armstrong, Alexandria and Paul
Siciliano, Cole Paterson, Evan
Ducharme and Tori Hinschberger,
Danielle Ducharme and Chris Jutzi.
Oscar was the great-grandfather of
Brody and Aryia McNichol and
Lincoln Collison, Emma, Kaleigh
and James Armstrong and Remy
Siciliano.
He was the brother of Pat and
Larry Keifer, Sharon and Gordon
Berry and Barb and Jerry Laidlaw,
Leslie and Frieda Ducharme,
Darwin Ducharme and Bev
Stevenson and the brother-in-law of
Donna Fischer and Mel and Lois
McArter.
Oscar was predeceased by parents
Urban and Margaret and in-laws
John and Elsie McArter, brother
Dennis, Larry and sister Darlene,
brothers-in-law Gerald and Jim
McArter and Roy Fischer and
special furry friend Samantha. He
will be missed by many nieces and
nephews.
A private graveside service for
friends and family took place at
Brussels Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug.
7.

expressions of sympathy, donations

Hospice, Wingham and District
Hospital Foundation Oncology
Department and Knox Presbyterian
Church in Cranbrook.

WRITZER "FRITZ" DATEMA
Writzer "Fritz" Datema of
Brampton and formerly of Auburn
passed away at Holland Christian
Homes, Brampton on Tuesday, Aug.
7, 2018. He was in his 91st year.
Fritz was the beloved husband of
the late Grace (de Vries) Datema
(2017) and loving father of Marg
and Carl Mount, Queensville;
Mathilda Tisseur, Cambridge; Ralph
and Pat Datema, Clinton; Anita
Wilson, Sardis, British Columbia
and Frank and Boni Datema,
Aldergrove, British Columbia. He
will be cherished by 14
grandchildren and 20 great-
grandchildren.
Fritz was the dear brother of
Mervyn Datema, Blyth; Fredrika
Datema, Martha Valkema, Ankie and
Jan Buikema, all of The Netherlands
and brother-in-law of Ina de Vries,
Chatham; Truus and Hilko Rozema,
Cees and Ity de Vries, all of The
Netherlands and Dorothy de Vries of
Prince Edward Island.
Fritz was predeceased by his
brother Henk and Francine Datema,
sister-in-law Gaye Datema and
