On Tuesday fed steers and heifers sold on a good demand at prices $1 to $2 higher. Choice steers and heifers sold $148 to $152 with sales to $155. Second cut sold $144 to $148. Fed beef cows sold actively at prices $2 to $3 higher. Holsteins and thinner beef cows sold on an easier market. On Thursday veal sold on a good active trade at higher prices. Lambs and sheep sold steady while goats sold slightly higher. On Friday calves and yearlings sold on a strong active trade at prices $2 to $3 higher. Southlore Farms Inc. of Palmerston, consigned 12 heifers that averaged 1,317 lbs. and sold for an average price of $146.02. One charolais heifer weighed 1,270 lbs. and sold for $153.50. Connell Farms Inc. of Palmerston, consigned nine head that averaged 1,551 lbs. and sold for an average price of $141.71. Two black heifers averaged 1,540 lbs. and sold for an average price of $149. Greg McPherson of Teeswater, consigned three steers that averaged 1,662 lbs. and sold for an average price of $150.62. Two black steers averaged 1,640 lbs. and sold for an average price of $152.50. Andrew Black of Proton Station, consigned 12 steers that averaged 1,491 lbs. and sold for an average price of $147.78. Two red steers averaged 1,528 lbs. and sold for an average price of $152. There were 250 cows on offer. Beef sold $70 to $92 with sales to $120; D1 and D2, $72 to $79; D3, $62 to $69; D4, $42 to $62. (Photo submitted) By Loretta Higgins The sixth meeting of the Wawanosh 4-H Sewanosh Club was held on Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Hall. Once everyone was settled, Abby opened the meeting with the pledge and the roll call, which consisted of a series of questions relating to seams and stitches. Amanda then introduced the special guest of the night, her mom, Tina Bos. Mary Ellen then brought up achievement and the club decided to hold it on Monday, July 30 at 7 p.m. at Gerrie Bos' home in Blyth. After that was decided, members than discussed when books should be due and voted for Tuesday, Aug. 7. Members also got a picture of everyone in their pajama projects. With business out of the way, Cathy then informed the club on some basic information on pressing, giving some odd tips here and there, and using Kayla's project as an example for different forms of pressing. Members then split up and went to Obituaries DONNA FLYNN Donna Flynn passed away peacefully at her home on the farm at RR 1, Londesborough, as was her wish, on Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was in her 88th year. Donna was the beloved wife of the late Hugh Flynn. She was born on July 14, 1931 in Hibbert Twp., Ontario. Donna's greatest love was her passion for farming especially her dairy cows, followed by local sports teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. She was the cherished mother of Terry and Steve Clark, Hillsburgh; Joe and Jo Ann Flynn, RR 3, Clinton; Dawn Graham and her friend Steve Chesney, RR 1, Londesborough and Norris and Becky Flynn, Clinton. Donna was the loving grandmother of Jeff Clark, Greg Clark, Angelissa Gibbons, Cougar Flynn, Dr. Candi Flynn and Jason Veenstra, Hugh Flynn, Connor Flynn, Mandy Graham, Casey Graham and Grayden, Graysen, Graynger and Brynlee Flynn. She was the great- grandmother of Austin and Avery Clark, Nathan and Jordyn Clark and Brody and Krya Gibbons. Donna will be remembered by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Squire, Hazel Haines, Donelda Flynn, Marie Flynn, Frances Butt, Rita and Gene Powell and by her brother-in-law Boyd Hartwick. She was predeceased by her son James (2013), parents Harry (Joseph Henry) and Emma Norris, and siblings Ray and Leita Norris, Noni and Harvey Jacobi, Jack Norris, Beryl and Bill Storey, Hugh and Annie Norris, Margaret (Dolly) and John MacDougald, Hazel and Don McLeod, Lila and Orville Storey, Harry Norris, Dorothy and Ray Davis, Celia Hartwick, Robert Norris, and infant brother James Alvin Norris. Donna is also predeceased by in-laws John Flynn, Bill Flynn, Chuck and Jean Shelton, Wilfred Haines, Murray Butt, and Dorothy and Ken Dupee. Friends will be received at the Falconer Funeral Homes, Clinton Chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment is at Clinton Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to OneCare or Clinton Public Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Melina and Amanda went with Cathy to make a "Magic Bag", a bag that can be frozen or heated to treat injuries or help relax and Abby and Cassandra went with Mary Ellen to finish sewing some seams. The different groups then rotated once they finished at their station. After finishing their work, Abby closed the meeting with the motto and then the club sang "Happy Birthday" to Amanda and then enjoyed cake supplied by the Bos family and other snacks provided by Melina.
