Six -String Festivals `healthy' in Seaforth: Steffler
A day of music
The Tanner Steffler Foundation hosted the Six -String Summerfest and Six -String Music Fest
in Seaforth on Saturday. The Summerfest took place in the afternoon and featured a number
of musicians, including Blyth's newest bicycle mechanic, Jason Lamont (above), and plenty for
children to see and do, such as axe -throwing and a number of obstacle courses. The Music
Fest, later that night, welcomed over 700 to Seaforth, while the Summerfest saw over 400
people make their way to the town. (Quinn Talbot photo)

While organizers are not yet sure
how much was raised over the
weekend, the Tanner Steffler
Foundation's twin Six String
Summerfest and Music Fest events
have been deemed a successful day.
Foundation founder and Tanner's
father John Steffler said that
Saturday's event saw "tremendous

community support" with over 400
people making their way through the
family -friendly Six -String
Summerfest on Saturday afternoon
and over 700 coming through the
doors for the ticketed Six -String
Music Fest.
He said that while final
calculations have yet to be made,
there's no doubt it was a healthy
event for the foundation, which is
continuing to get its message out.
John and Heather Steffler founded
the Tanner Steffler Foundation after
the overdose death of their son
Tanner. The foundation aims to aid
and further the discussion
surrounding the mental health of the
youth of Huron County through
various initiatives.
The event, which will be an annual
one, latched onto Tanner's love of
music. The afternoon event featured
a number of local acts, as well as
plenty for children to see and do,
while the late night event brought
Canada's leading Tragically Hip
tribute band to Seaforth.
The Honey Sweethearts opened
the Summerfest stage, followed by
Blyth's newest bicycle mechanic,
Jason Lamont. Jake Mitchell then
performed, followed by Mary Paige
and Irelyn St. Onge, Dustin
SkySmith and Steph Martin,
Delaney Brooklyn, Haley McNeil
and Sarah Menary.
In the evening, Sadman the Clown,
Proud Uncles and Stone School
played on the evening outdoor stage,
while Ray Lyell and the Storm and
Practically Hip played indoors that
night.
The night was capped off by the
results of the large silent auction and
a small live auction, led by award-
winning auctioneer Kevin McArter.
Steffler says the event will take
place at the same place and on the
same weekend next year in Seaforth
in hopes of becoming one of the
town's biggest events of the year, all
for a great cause.
