Fundraising committee meets
By Shawn Loughlin
The Citizen
The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre fundraising
committee has now held its first
meeting.
Councillor Alvin McLellan, who
is also a member of the community
centre's renovation and expansion
committee, reported back to council
at its July 10 meeting.
He said that the first meeting saw
some great ideas thrown around and
that the committee is planning on
meeting again in September after
members have had a chance to think.
In a previous interview with The
Citizen, McLellan said that the
fundraising committee wanted to
wait until the other committee had
some solid ideas as to the work that
was going to be done before asking
the community for money.

The boosters of the Winthrop Ball
Park in the eastern part of Huron
East reported another successful
pork chop barbecue fundraiser.
Councillor Brenda Dalton said
that the event raised a total of $2,300
through this year's event, which
means another successful year for
the group behind the event.

Huron East Council has
authorized the submission of a grant
application to the Municipal
Greenhouse Gas Challenge Fund for
the estimated cost of $272,916 for
aeration blower upgrades to the
Brussels and Vanastra sewage
treatment plants. The funding
request is $135,912.
While there were due to be three
intakes for the fund, said Chief
Administrative Officer Brad Knight,
this may be the final intake due
