Mullett central public chunl 4 Abby Bos Hullett Central Public School 2018 Valedictorian Hullett's Bos reflects on decade By Abby Bos Good evening and welcome all proud parents, family, friends and staff. I'm Abby Bos here to represent the graduating class that is sitting here before you as their valedictorian. Before I begin, I would like to thank everyone who came out to show their support and mention how honoured I am to be representing this huge class of 2018. Tonight is a night when we look back on the past, remember the present and look into the future. It all started when we went walking into Junior Kindergarten in 2008. For some of us it was a day filled with smiles from Mrs. Roe, Mrs. Bell or Mrs. Ryan, but for most of us it was five days a week where we got to play, discuss how much we wanted to be a superhero or a princess when we grow up and cut off each other's hair. Fast forwarding to Grade 3, Hullett was in for a shock when the kids of Blyth took on the challenge of switching schools. Although this was a while back I still remember how Mr. Caldwell let us check in our attendance everyday. Maybe this was because we wanted to touch the smart board or maybe he was too lazy to do it himself. I think at the start of merging schools we all felt awkward, but after awhile we all got used to each other, the school and the new nicknames Mrs. Middleton insisted on giving us no matter how ridiculous, including "Cotton -eyed Joel" and "Mitchy Mitchy Ya Ya Za Za". After Grade 3, we were all used to each other, but with having such a large class, we were all separated into different classes. After years of Grades 4, 5 and 6, we formed crazy bonds and really started to figure out friendships. Some crazy bonds were known as Mrs. Fritzley's "squad six" which was devastated to see her leave at the year-end assembly. A huge thank you comes from us to Mrs. Gilroy and Mrs. Fritzley for making our last year as Juniors memorable. Going into Grade 7, we had Mr. McEwen, a teacher who let me fall through a frozen river because he got new boots and walking over through the snow would have wrecked them. Then, halfway through the year, we had Mr. Coups: a bald-headed rock-and-roll music lover whose messy writing was the reason I think all of us had bad grades. Mr. Coups was a extremely big impact on our learning. He taught us maturity and when it was an appropriate time for some eye - rolling. Mr. Coups, you may have had a terrible taste in music, but you let all the girls stay inside when it was too cold even though you had to put up with our "drama". Seeing you go to another job this year was a hard let - go for your Grade 7/8 class but we are all wishing you the best of luck and thank you for all you've taught us. At last, after 10 years of learning, we made it to the classroom at the end of the hall. At first, we may have all been scared of Mrs. Gerber but we have all come to realize the only thing to be scared of is her sneezes... and odd amount of pug figures and pictures. Mrs. Gerber, on behalf of the graduating class we thank you for teaching us how to form the area of a circle and for putting up with all our "Grade 8 comments". You've taught us so much from your stories and past experiences and I don't think we could have asked for a better teacher to send us to high school. And now we're here, at graduation after 10 months of Sadie's ear - piercing laugh, Mrs. Gerber's odd choice in noises and the struggle of having to listen to Joel argue over Continued on page 20 Ultramar Gas Station and Express Mart Open 6 am to 10 pm 39977 Blyth Rd., Blyth j c ` .to.ate tfte citacitutteA 6 RyAmit CONSTRUCTION 83997 Brussels Line Best /ISheS 519-523-90906rae''': Graduates! rt GREG RYAN 38 RR #2 Brussels, ON NOG 1HOJIM RYAN IEEE: sl9-3s7si29SHOP: 519-887-6916SS CELL: 519-357-5369 Email:tugry an@tcc on.caFAX: 519-887-6949 RES.: 519-887-6916 y• --Bl th Le l :op ---a-^1 Y gOn 4.0t.I., • ,. 1: ,,, Best wishes .... to all the Graduates .ti0RMR Branch 420 a ii wishes all the graduates VIP I °.y iverside Funeral Home Inc. yEG I ON a successful future .-•_f,_ -- we are proud to support our youth! 401 Albert Street, Box 340 , Brussels, ON NOG 1H0 Phone: 519-887-6336 • Fax: 519-887-6438 www.riversidefuneralhome.ca Congratulations Ili to the graduating class of 2018 1 Here's to you. `' Brett & Laura Fischer °°PINT Congratulations Graduates Yesterday's Traditions Tomorrow's Promise NORTH HURON Brussels fa-,\ PIONEER www.northhuron.ca nafie OflGRNTUINTIOI1S CONCRETE FORMING F°rAllNeeds' COMMERCIALRESIDENTIAL FREE • Foundations • Floor Finishing All the Best ESTIMATES Grads! • Circular Tanks • Sandwich Walls RR#3 Blyth — Fax 519-523-9604 GRIIDUATISI D.C.Craig Excavating • • Excavating • Bulldozing • Septic Systems • Drainage 519-523-9971 519-523-4966
