(Denny Scott photo) Blyth Artisan Market hits goal The Blyth Artisan Market has hit one of the goals laid out for it by its parent organization, the Blyth Business Improvement Area (BIA), by accruing 10 vendors for its first season. Each week, the event has brought three to four vendors, however, since opening a month ago, there have been 10 different vendors at the event in recent weeks. The market moved to the Blyth Christian Reformed Church parking lot last week after being located behind the Blyth Memorial Hall and Blyth Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for several weeks. With the move, the market is more visible, according to organizer Amy Zoethout. "It's more quiet, there is more room and it's much more visible," she said. "We hope more people see us and feel comfortable coming to support their local producers" The new site helps with a lot of issues the market has encountered including visibility from passing traffic and Blyth's main street, but it's still not as central to the village's downtown core as BIA members had originally hoped. Zoethout said, to draw crowds from the Blyth Festival and other visitors from the downtown core, the market had a sandwich board directing people to the market. She said there were other plans to help drive crowds as well. "We're doing all we can to draw crowds down the street and be visible," she said. "We're hoping curious people will come see us " Part of that draw is musical guests, Zoethout said, pointing to Paul McInnis, acoustic guitar player, who performed last week. The market is still hoping to run on four Sundays throughout the remainder of the year, marking special events, however Zoethout said a space hasn't been located for that, as the church parking lot is unavailable on Sundays. Looking to the future, she said there hasn't been an official review of the market yet, but the BIA is considering it. For more information, look up the Blyth Artisan Market on Facebook. (Denny Scott photo) A golden master -key! (Charles Spurgeon ) "The Lord opened Lydia's heart to respond to what Paul was saying." Acts 16:14 God's saving grace will not be baffled. He frequently begins with the silver key of a mother's tearful prayers and a father's tender counsels. In turn, He uses the church -keys of His ordinances and His ministers, and these are often found to move the bolt. But if they fail, He thrusts in the iron key of trouble and affliction which has been known to succeed after all others have failed. He has, however, a golden master -key, which excels all others. It is the operation of His own most gracious Spirit, by which entrance is effected into hearts which seemed shut up forever. Wonderful is the patience and long-suffering of the Lord, or He would long since have Left hardened and careless sinners to themselves. He is importunate, whether we are so or not. We take pains to resist His heavenly grace, but He abides faithful to His own name of love. O Lord, we bless You that You have opened our hearts, and we ask You now that You have entered, to abide in our souls forever, as a king in his own palace!
