STEWART; PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTIST 2 ND DEALER IN MOULDINGS, &C. A live industry in town is that carried on by Mr. Geo. Stewart at his photographic studio, corner of Hamilton St. and the Square. Mr. Stewart purchased the apparatus, plant and good -will of Mr. Geo. B. Robson in 1885, and has suc- ceeded in developing a large trade in the various lines of his business. In addition to being a first-class photographer he has attained considerable proficiency as a crayon artist, and has been successful in turning out a large number of orders in that parti- cular line. To enable him to do full justice to the outside view department he recently pur- chased one of the largest cameras in West, and his general photographic ap- paratus is one of the most complete outside of the large cities. A number of changes in the fitting up of the studio are now in contemplation, which when completed will make it one of the most perfect estaFlish- ments in the province. Mr. Stewart has secured the assistance of Mr. D. Young, recently of Chancellor's celebrated photo- graph gallery, Dublin, Ireland, to enable him to keep up with the growing trade of the town. Mr. Young is an expert in his profession and already has turned out a quantity of highly creditable work. Mr. Dowding's establishment is situated on Hamilton street, half a block from the Square, where he keeps on hand an extensive stock of harness and saddlery goods, and the many smaller articles usually found in that connection. He is a prac- tical man in his business, and with a good force of competent workmen can execute in first-class style any orders from the finest four-in-hand to that of the heaviest draught for every class of heavy teaming. Large orders for lumber camp outfits have been filled with a promptness not excelled in the cities. Robes in their season are a leading feature, and every taste or require - RESIDENCE OF R. Mr. Price is an Englishman and a former resident of Belleville, Ontario, where for years he carried on the largest grocery and tea house in that city. He removed to Goderich in 1879, and for about eight years was engaged extensively in the milling and grain trade, afterwards establishing the present grocery business with his son THE CANADIAN BANK OF COMMERCE, R. S. WILLIAMS, MANAGER. The Goderich agency of this, one of the standard financial institutions of the Dominion, was opened in 1870, under the management of Col. A. M. Ross, now Provincial Treasurer of Ontario, who held office until 1883, when the present manager, Mr. Williams, succeeded; him. The offices of the agency here are very neatly and conveniently fitted up, and that the bank enjoys in a very high degree the nonfidence of our business men is evident every day during business hours. Every facility is afforded for the prompt and convenient transaction of monetary matters, and visitors or those abroad who may have financial dealings with our town will find Manager Williams and his assistants in the Canadian Bank of Coinmerce the most obliging and courteous officials.
