Guest speaker
at Reid's Corners
WI meeting
When Tracy Weigand was teaching in
KTTPS she became very enthused
about a program running there called
"Everyone's a Reader".
Now teaching in South Saugeen Pub-
lic School, Tracy has been instrumental
in having the program introduced there.
Children who are having difficulty read-
ing work one on one with a volunteer in
a structured program.
It is so well laid out that the different
volunteers, even if inexperienced, have
no trouble picking up the lesson from
the day before. "Everyone's a Reader" is
being introduced in more schools each
term with great success. Ms. Weigand
was thanked by President Sharon
Courtney.
The answers to the roll call - "Your
favourite children's book," showed how
important reading has been and still
should be to young and old. We have an
obligation to help our youth.
The Christmas meeting and turkey
dinner will be held at the home of Sha-
ron and Gary Courtney. Secret Pal gifts
will be exchanged.
Refreshments were served by Ruth
Anne Robinson and Lucille Fischer.

F.E. Madill students welcomed Alvin Law to the school on Monday,
Nov. 18. A well-known motivational speaker, Alvin was born
without arms as a consequence of his mother's use of thalidomide
while pregnant. The lack of arms does not prevent him from
driving a car, playing the piano and the drums, or cooking, among
other things. With funding provided by the Lucknow Kinsmen,
Alvin was able to share his 'Five Steps for Overcoming Anything'
with Madill students, followed by a second session specifically for
Grade 10 students.
ABOVE: Guest Speaker Alvin Law demonstrates his skills with his feet while playing the piano, with some
student volunteers in the background. Law discussed his 'Five Steps for Overcoming Anything' with
students at Wingham's F.E. Madill Secondary School on Nov. 18, 2013.

participation in a presentation.
Sharing economic benefits
The K2 Wind Project will create over 1,000 high -skilled jobs and deliver community benefits and clean energy for generations to come
The K2 Wind Power Project in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW) will generate significant
economic benefits for the entire community. In addition to annual lease payments to local farm families and
municipal property taxes, the Project will share benefits with the community through:
• Community Renewable Energy Benefit — an annual
payment of $1,500 to landowners within one kilometre
of Project infrastructure.
• Community Benefits Fund Agreement — K2 Wind will
deliver approximately $15 million in funding to ACW
over the next 20 years. The funds will provide ACW
with opportunities to undertake a range of community
based initiatives.
• Construction and business opportunities — Over 1,000
workers from across southwestern Ontario will be
involved in the manufacturing and assembly of the
wind turbines and site construction. Additionally,
locally sourced materials will be needed for the
construction of the Project.
• Jobs — Once in operation, the Project will create
approximately 20 permanent full-time jobs, generating
about$1.5 million of employment income annually.
When the Project is operating, K2 Wind will inject between $5 and $6 million in direct
spending into the local economy each year. To learn more visit www.K2Wind.ca.
