Multimedia Journalist
The Lucknow Sentinel, a weekly newspaper serving Lucknow,
Ont., and the surrounding areas of Bruce and Huron counties,
is looking for a full-time multimedia journalist for immediate
employment.
The Sentinel is a one-person newsroom ideal for a candidate
with a broad range of interests and abilities. Writing, photography,
web -based news gathering and social media engagement are all
part of the job.
Lucknow is a community of 1,200 in a primarily agricultural area.
Job Duties/Qualifications:
• Energetic reporter with excellent writing and
interviewing skills.
• Self-starter, willing and able to generate his/her own ideas.
• Able to work flexible hours.
• Strong interest in a variety of areas, including feature
writing, general news and spot news.
• Photography
• Comfortable with producing content for the web.
• Applicants must own a reliable vehicle and camera.

NOTICE TO RATEPAYERS
SECOND INSTALLMENT OF 2013 FINAL TAX LEVY IS DUE
The second installment of the 2013 Final tax levy is due on Monday, December2, 2013. Taxes may be
paid through pre -authorized payment, telephone/internet banking, mailed to or at the Municipal Office,
21 Queen St., Ripley, between 8:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For your convenience, interac as well as post dated cheques are accepted at the office. There is also an
after hours drop box located at the front of the office.
Taxes not paid by the due date are subject to interest charges of
1.25% per month. Please ensure your payment is received in the office by the due date. When making
payment through Telephone/Internet banking & Teller/ABM payments please allow two (2) business days
for payment to be received in the municipal office.
FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE THE TAXPAYER FROM THE
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYMENT NOR THE LIABILITY OF PENALTY CHARGES FOR
LATE PAYMENT.
Any ratepayer who has not received a tax notice is advised to
contact the Township of Huron -Kinloss Municipal Office at
(519) 395-3735 as soon as possible.
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO PASS A BY-LAW
Public Meeting to take into consideration a DRAFT Facility Alcohol Licencing By-law on
Wednesday December 4th 2013 at 7:OOpm at the Ripley -Huron Community Centre Auditorium
TAKE NOTICE That The Township of Huron -Kinloss intends to enact a By -Law to
Licence the Ripley -Huron Community Centre for selling and service of Alcohol commencing
January 1, 2014, and that all controlled Municipal Facilities may be licenced as required with the
catering endorsement as indicated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The Township of Huron -Kinloss will be holding a Public Meeting to take into consideration a
DRAFT Facility Alcohol Licencing By-law on Wednesday December 4th, 2013 at 7:OOpm at the
Ripley -Huron Community Centre that applies to Sale and Service of Alcohol at the Ripley -Huron
Community Centre, and Catering endorsement Licence to provide Alcohol sales and service to all
Township of Huron -Kinloss Facilities for special events and rental events.
The Township of Huron -Kinloss offers a "Gross Revenue Share" opportunity
for events where alcohol is served at municipal facilities. All events where
liquor is served shall do so under the Municipal Permanent Liquor Licence and abide by existing
Township of Huron -Kinloss Liquor Policies and the Ontario Liquor License Act. A Catering
Endorsement provision is provided for functions held at Municipal Facilities other than the
premises to which the
liquor sales license applies.
Key stakeholders and any person considering renting facilities, or hosting an event with
alcohol service should attend this meeting to understand the benefits of hosting an event
in a Licenced facility.
Comments and/or delegation requests concerning the by-law should be submitted to the Clerk in
writing by no later than Thursday December 12th, 2013 at 2pm. All comments will be reviewed by
Council as the December 16th, 2013 session.All delegation requests concerning the draft by-law
will also be considered at the December 16th, 2013 meeting at 7:OOpm.

Casual Part -Time Arena Operator
The successful candidate will be involved with a range of job activities including: operation
of Ice Resurfacer, ice maintenance, general cleaning, supervision of students, and willing to
work weekends. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of equipment and building
maintenance; possess a valid driver's licence, hold or willing to obtain a current CPR, First Aid,
Smart Serve, and propane handling certificates. Experience preferred but not required. We will train.
