Animal cruelty charges after
four cats, two dogs abandoned
Huron County OPP officers have laid
animal cruelty charges against a 33 -year-
old female formerly of South Huron.
On Nov. 3, 2013 Huron OPP officers
attended a vacant residence located on
Algonquin Drive in Huron Park to investi-
gate a complaint of abandoned animals in
the residence.
A witness reported the former tenant
moved out on Oct. 31, 2013 leaving the
pets behind. Police said officers accessed
the residence to check on the condition of
the pets and located two "skittish" dogs
and four dead cats. There were no signs of
water or food left behind for the animals,
police said.
The dogs were transported to a veteri-
nary clinic for an assessment. It is believed
they will make a recovery.
As a result the woman, now residing in
London has been charged with six counts
of animal cruelty. She has a court appear-
ance scheduled for Jan. 23, 2014 at the
Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter.
