Safe driving starts with you, prevent a crash and slow down" - Huron County OPP Sergeant Dale Bray. All motorists are encouraged to ensure their vehicles are ready for winter conditions. Huron County OPP offers the following tips with respect to winter driving. • Always check with your local media outlet, Environment Canada or the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) before venturing out onto the road- way. If you discover that a snow storm is imminent, modify your driving times to reflect the best driving condi- tions. Do not risk your life or someone else's if the weather necessitates you to stay off the road. • Reducing your speed on snowy and slippery roads will improve your stopping distances. If you see snow, go slow. • Switch to winter tires for added traction and stopping ability. CHECK OUT WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT KINCARDINE HEARING CLINIC! Glen Walden's Story "The first visit was understanding my problems and suggesting the possibilities available. The type of hearing aid which they recommended have been very satisfactory. My follow-up visits have been very satisfactory regarding the attention I have received in cleaning and checking." Lila Stansfield' Story "Eh? What? Pardon? Bill would you turn that up a bit, A BIT MORE, A BIT MORE, PLEASE!!' These remarks were becoming a part of my life for at least four years. During family celebrations my misinterpretations were becoming hilarious. They were laughing but I didn't appreciate being the joke. As my kids said goodbye; they looked me in the eye and many times said, "Mom you better get your hearing checked." After much probing, I finally took their advice and the search led to Kincardine Hearing Clinic. What I had put off unnecessarily turned out to be no problem 4lr1t.. llislgo. 3 fl DA'k Li FREE TRIAL FORA LIMITED TIME_t:AL1, la ''D.•'tt' HOOK VOL :R 511011 519-396-6026,. 1.0..f„1-855-396-6026 tiaNCARIAN L LS4YF LLL13 114'» Ella}rw.t}' 1 ± 0 'Iiu]d +fveuSi. Whenever possible, pull into a driveway or parking lot rather than remaining on the shoulder of the roadway. • If you have to get out of your vehi- cle, ensure there are no other cars approaching and do so in safety. The safest place to be is inside your vehicle. • If you end up stuck in a ditch and need to keep the motor running, ensure that your exhaust is clear of snow. This will prevent carbon mon- oxide from entering your vehicle. • Carry an emergency survival kit in your vehicle. • Tell someone your route and when they can expect you to return. Call them if you are going to be late. Finally, please DO NOT call the Provincial Communications Centre (PCC) (Dispatch) for road and weather conditions. Police will not provide this information. By calling the PCC it ties up phone lines that others depend on for emergency situations. Dial 5-1-1 from your landline or cell phone for up to date road informa- tion. This automated bilingual service provides travellers with road informa- tion pertaining to construction zones and closures on provincially main- tained highways.
