A short business meeting preceded the dinner. The roll call, "A memorable Christmas gift" gave everyone a chance to reminisce. Five members received membership pins - Ruth Anne Robinson - 10 years, Audrey Smith - 10 years, Linda Campbell - 20 years, Joan Wand - 20 years and Betty Jones - 40 years. June is traditionally a special meeting. Members voted to attend the production of "South Pacific" which will be performed at Grand Bend this summer. Joan Wand will look after details. After the huge meal and the dishes cleared away the fun began. Ruth Anne Robinson gave readings as did Linda Campbell. Bonna May showed how a beautiful Christmas tree could be made using six coat hangers as the base, a string of lights, a roll of tinsel and a few simple ornaments. Sharon Courtney made a centre piece using natural greenery and carnations which was for Eunice Emmerton, a long time member who has just been moved to Trillium Court. Secret pal gifts were exchanged and new pals drawn. Sharon Courtney, Judy Snobelen and Bonna May were warmly thanked by the members. www.lucknowsentinel.com r/1 swr., There's no better time than Christmas to thank your customers for their year-round patronage. Paul and Eleanor Henderson were the Ambassadors again and by all accounts, all the players and their teams had a great time. Congratulations to everyone from the organizers to the players, their parents and all local hockey fans for a great weekend. Our local HAWK theatre group held their annual Christmas play this past weekend as well, and as usual, the play was well attended and enjoyed by all. Last weeks Carolfest provided a won- derful way to get into the Christmas spirit. All the choirs did a great job and helped many to forget the horrid weather (except for the lightning and thunder) and to start thinking happy Christmas thoughts. It was great to see so many human interest stories in last weeks Sentinel. The brave people who alerted a family to a fire in their home are to be congrat- ulated for their quick thinking and bravery. The story about Mrs. Bell, from Northern Ireland and her need for can- cer treatment here in Canada was sad but full of hope. It was also lovely to see that technology has allowed Margaret Ferguson of RVilla to keep in contact with friends and family. And last, but not least, the story of former Teeswater News Editor Carolyn Heffenstein getting a university degree at 78, reminds us all that its never too late to get an education. There are still many bazaars and craft shows happening before Christmas in and around the area, so if you are not crafty or unable to bake, you too can impress friends and family with home made goodies for Christmas. In case you're out and about tomor- row night and you happen to see a bunch of "mature" women dressed up in red and purple clutching carol sheets in their hands while rushing from senior residence to senior residence, that will be the Lucknow Sepoy Ranees out on our annual caroling evening for the sen- iors in Lucknow. We try not to frighten anyone, but they always seem to like our visit and our singing, go figure. / -- HOLIDAY DEADLINES eA for December 23 issue December 19 11 a.m. for December 30 issue December 23 11 a.m. ifickmriv Sentinel
