Reaching her Goal, Twice! 10Leget Cycles , from London Alice Ritchie Mary Ann Leget recently made the journey on her bicycle from her home on the south side of London to Lake Huron Resort, North of Goderich, the campground where her parents, Clarence and Alice Ritchie reside for the summer. She started out at 6:50 a.m. and arrived at 2:30 p.m., stopping for breakfast and a lunch break. The trip was 125 km long. Mary Ann is not a professional cyclist, but bikes to work from the south side of London to the north side to work most days all spring and summer. When asked why she made this trip she said, "Just to prove to myself that I could do it." She had biked from London to the Ritchie home in Lucknow 20 years ago when she was 31. Way to go Mary Ann! All of your family is very proud of you. THE LUCKNOW LAWN BOWLING CLUB Margaret Murray The Lucknow Lawn Bowl- ing Club held its Annual Labour Day Tournament on Monday September 1, 2014. There were seven greens in play with 28 bowlers from Hanover, Walkerton, Sea - forth, Chesley, Mt. Forest and Lucknow. It was a very successful tournament; even though showers were forecast the weatherman cooperated and the sun shone all day. After the first game a deli- cious meal of sausages on a bun, beans and sauerkraut was served by the Lucknow Lawn Bowling Ladies with great help from volunteers. A variety of pies were pro- vided for desert plus tea and coffee. Watermelon was the choice of refreshment after the second game, along with cold drinks. The winner was Tom Phillips and partner from Seaforth with 3 wins and 44 with an over of 7; second place was Toni Verstraten, Hanover/Brian Doelman, Lucknow with 3 wins and 38; third place was Frank Geurtjens and partner from Hanover with 2 wins and 39; fourth place was Bill Lehman and partner from Walkerton with 2 wins and 38; consolation prize went to Doug McCory and part- ner from Hanover with 1 win and 34 with an over of 5. There were several spec- tators who came out to watch and had a good time. The club wishes to thank the players and the specta- tors who made the day so much fun and so successful. Thank you also to the volun- teers, we couldn't have done it without you.
