Family Raising Funds for Orphanage
A) Race of the
Saugeen
When the November,
2013 typhoon decimated
homes in the Philippines,
people were drawn to help
but some didn't know how
to. I am a proud father of
four children, two of
whom wanted to make a
difference. Josiah, 11, and
Chloe -Anne, 8, came
together with an idea to
help. Armed with informa-
tion from a global aid
group they realized that if
they could raise just $400
they could fund the
rebuilding of an entire
family's home that had
been lost. Realizing they
each had a nearby birth-
day, they, now with the
Race of the
Saugeen
The Race of the Saugeen is
a 6+ km trek and a paddle
down the Saugeen River
with stumping challenges
and winding detours to
set everyone off course.
Giving aid to the Haven
of Hope Orphanage in
the Philippines is the ulti-
mate goal, the exhilarat-
ing canoe adventure and
winnings, a bonus. There
are side challenges with
designated prize pack-
ages with too many prizes
and categories to list.
We already have the gen-
erous support of Hidden
Valley Christian Camp in
Paisley, Ontario, where
our event will commence
and finish; we just need
people of the exciting
type to join our cause.
Each team of two will be
entered with a $50 entry
fee. The fee includes a one
night cabin or serviced
campsite for the Friday OR
Saturday night. Teams pro -
vide their own canoes or
for $10 more the camp will
provide one. A celebration
dinner is available after
the race with a donation.
Check-in for the race
begins at Hidden Valley
Christian Camp, hvccamp.
ca, at 11:00am, Saturday,
September 20th, 2014.
Anyone wishing to register
should call Wesley at 519-
717-4156, and leave a mes-
sage with a return number
to call. RSVP by Wednes-
day, September 17th. The
cause and the excitement
are through the roof.
What we need:
Teams of two entered
to race (any ages), prize
package donations, silent
auction donations, guests
to enjoy the dinner with
a donation and to get the
word out however we can.
Thank you for any help
you are willing to pro-
vide for the Race of the
Saugeen as well as sup-
port for the Kranenburg
Team to the Haven of
Hope Orphanage in Digos
City of the Philippines.

After our summer hiatus
movies will be returning to
the Lucknow Library start-
ing September 24th.
First up will be the Fault
in our Stars based on the
popular book. Movie starts
at 6:30 pm.
Hazel and Gus are two
teenagers who share an
acerbic wit, a disdain for
the conventional, and a
love that sweeps them on a
journey. Their relationship
is all the more miraculous
given that Hazel's other
constant companion is an
oxygen tank, Gus jokes
about his prosthetic leg,
and they met and fell in
love at a cancer support
group.

assistance of mom and
dad, planned a birthday
party to raise awareness
and funds to rebuild a
home.
When inviting their
friends my children indi-
cated their intent to sacri-
fice their receiving of gifts
for the greater cause of
accepting donations for
the rebuilding of the Fili-
pino homes. Our children
received $765 in dona-
tions, nearly enough to
rebuild two homes. I can-
not express how proud we
as parents were on that
day.
Since that day we have
been able to setup a mercy
mission trip to Haven of
Hope Orphanage in the
Philippines. This trip
serves dual purpose. We
are able to help
Under -privileged chil-
dren who need our love
and attention and we are
able to help our own chil-
dren to see the people
they were able to help
through a small sacrifice
of a few birthday gifts.
We are now raising sup-
port to follow through on
this dream. We have had
some generous donations
from people we know, and
we were able to raise
funds from others during a
car wash. We have a major
fundraising event set for
September 20th, the Race
of the Saugeen. We need
as much help as we can
get to make this event a
success.
