A former Kinloss Township Resident,
Peter Carter of Teeswater, had a great
year of raising money for charity, as
well as winning some memory keep-
sakes in 2014.
In January her raised $5,690.00 at E
E. Madill High School for the Huron
County (Wingham) Alzheimer Society
Walk for Memories. Many Lucknow
and area residents and businesses gave
pledges.
In May he raised funds for the Hike
for Hospice, a 3 km walk held at For-
mosa in aid of the Grey/Bruce Hospice
at Owen Sound. Also in May, Carter
won gold in the Grey/Bruce Seniors
Games at Kincardine in the 3 km Pre-
diction Walk for men just 5 seconds off
of his predicted time. In the Seniors
Games his partner, Robert Bonnett of
Wingham (formerly of Kinloss Twp.),
and Carter teamed up to win silver in
crokinole at Hanover.
In June, Carter and Bonnett travelled
to Tavistock and came home with the
Worlds Championship Recreation
Doubles trophy in crokinole. He later
pledged half of his winnings to Parkin -
sons. Also in June, Peter and his wife Jo-
Ann staged a one day Games Day at the
Walkerton Knights of Columbus Hall,
raising $1,502.00 for Sacred Heart
Church Building Fund, Teeswater. Solo,
bid euchre, regular euchre and
crokinole attracted 132 players who
came from as far away as Penetang and
Parry Sound.
In September the Carters walked in
Wingham in the 5 km Terry Fox (Cana-
da's Hero) Walk/Run. Also in Septem-
ber Peter again canvassed in the Luc -
know area, etc. and raised $3,105.00 for
the Parkinson Society 5 km Superwalk
that was held in Hanover. On Septem-
ber 28 he competed against 80 other
walkers of all ages and genders at Walk-
erton in the Run/Walk for Health for
Walkerton Hospital. He won the bronze
medal in the 5 km walk with a time of
41 minutes, 30 seconds, a personal
best.
