The Kinloss Kairshea WI
held their Culture, Citizen-
ship and Community meet-
ing on October 16, 2014.
After the opening Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect, presi-
dent Charlene McEwan
read "Let's Celebrate':
Kathy Gibson intoruced
her daughter Rhonda
Frank who is Deputy
Superintendent at the
Maplehurst Correctional
Centre in Milton.
Rhonda told all about her
work as a social worker,
etc., in the largest prison in
Canada that can house
1,100 prisoners. Rhonda
organizes different pro-
grams to help the inmates
gain a new life and a new
perpsective. She shared a
comical reading on "Prison
versus Work':
Mary Stanley thanked
Rhonda for such an educa-
tional look at how prison
work would be.
The WI program was by
June Gilchrist and Sharon
MacDougall on citizenship.
June gave out different
readings of what a good cit-
izen should be.
The roll call of "Bring a
soft covered book or books
for the inmates and tell
what you think makes a
good citizen was answered
by 13 members and 6
guests.
Sharon read many inter-
esting facts on Canada.
Erlma Haldenby gave the
minutes of the September
meeting and Charlene gave
a report on the Bruce -Grey
Convention that was held
in Keady.
June drew numbers and
gave out pie pumpkins to
Alice Rigchie, Marg Stanley,
Irene Haldenby, Sharon
MacDougall and Charlene
McEwan.
Marg Stanley gave cour-
tesies and the meeting
closed with "0 Canada':
A lovely lunch was served
by Erlma Haldenby, Karen
Allen and Andrea Fieley to
close a very intersting
meeting.
