Mary MacGillivray has Reach her 100th Year

A 100th birthday celebration
was held for Mary MacGillivray
(nee Hackett) at Pinecrest into
the hallway to express their
best wishes.
Throughout the open house held
for Mary, there were pages left out
for well wishers to record their
memories over the years. It is a trib-
ute to this wonderful lady that it
took 8 pages to hold these thoughts.
Mary's daughter Ruth wrote,
"Mom is so lucky, she never took
a piano lesson, but she plays
piano and harmonica by ear so
well! We went to Langside Pres-
byterian Church until it closed,
the Mom went back to Lucknow
United Church when they moved
to town. Mom enjoyed being
with the ladies' groups, women's
UCW and WI and Lucknow Hor-
iticultural Society until she got
into her ninties."
Son Bob writes, "Mom was
always the best for the big family
home -cooked meals! We were
always welcome to come home and
enjoy her great baking and cooking
together. Good memories!"
Carolyn wrote, "I remember my
mother being the best mother God
ever gave anyone. Managed the
best she could. Always there for us
doing whatever she could. Great
role model. Love her to pieces:'
The baking and cooking theme,
as well as the warm welcoming
home are repeated throughout
the pages and in the memories of
those who are blessed to know
Mary MacGillivray. Her
grandchildren share that they
have special memories of being
taught to bake special recipes, as
well as receiving lots of help for
4-H sewing projects. It is stated
that Mary was happiest when her
home was filled with her children
and grandchildren.
A tribute to Mary MacGillivary
is best summed up by her grand
daughter Kimberly. "Even though
I don't get to see you as much as I
would like to, you have always
been in my heart and on my mind.
Love always..."
