$110,000 Donation
to Wounded
Warriors Foundation
Bruce Power Honours Veterans
Submitted
To commemorate
Remembrance Day, Bruce
Power held a ceremony on
November 11, 2014 on its
site to honour Canada's
soldiers, veterans and
those who have died in the
line of duty.
The company also pre-
sented a $110,000 cheque to
Wounded Warriors Canada.
"It's humbling, the cour-
age and strength the mem-
bers of our Armed Forces
show every day," said
Harry Hall, Vice President,
Supply Chain, who is him-
self a veteran. "We hope
this donation will make it
easier for our wounded
soldiers to transition back
to civilian life."
The money was raised
earlier this year through
Bruce Power's Supply
Chain at its annual
suppliers' conference, in
Collingwood. As a result,
$210,000 was raised, with
the United Way of Bruce -
Grey receiving the other
$100,000.
Wounded Warriors Can-
ada is a non-profit organi-
zation that assists Cana-
dian Forces members who
have been wounded or
injured in their service to
Canada. The foundation
provides assistance to
transition the soldiers back
to civilian life. The organi-
zation's primary focus is
on mental health and
learning to cope with the
effects of post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD).
In October, Bruce Power
employees and contractors
also raised nearly $16,000
for Helmets to Hardhats,
which helps veterans and
reservists find apprentice-
ships in the skilled trades.
