thank those who voted for him
as new Mayor. He stated that
he is "pleasantly surprised to
have gotten so much support
since it was a very close race':
Bucldes's main focus will be to
try to work with the Province of
Ontario to get funding for
infrastructure for South Bruce.
Due to the cutbacks of Provin-
cial funding, "we are going to
have to get very aggressive
about getting funding for both
infrastructure and our recrea-
tion facilities."
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Election Results
Ben VanDiepenbeek has
been re-elected as Reeve of
Ashfield-Colbome-
Wawanosh over his chal-
lenger Shawn Drennan. It was
a fairly close race with less
than 300 votes separating
them when all was tallied.
Ashfield ward has seen
Roger Watt return as Coun-
cillor by a large margin. Watt
will be joined by Jennifer
Miltenburg at Council.
Incumbent Doug Miller
has retained his seat as
Councillor of Wawanosh
along with Paul Bollinger.
Colborne Ward will be
represented by Glen McNeil
and Bill Vanstone.
accommodating the needs
and services required in ACW.
I would like to thank the
outgoing councilors. They
have been a great Council to
work with and I am sorry to
see them leave.
I am looking forward to
the next 4 years. I have been
here a long time, before
amalgamation and since for
14 years. I believe that amal-
gamation is working reason-
ably well with the 3 wards.
The major issues I see facing
Council are the diminishing
grants from the Province of
Ontario and the significant rise
in the cost of OPP services.
Ben Van Diepenbeek,
Reeve ACW
I would like to thank you
for your support in a reason-
ably close race for Reeve of
ACW.
I believe this is a really good
Council coming in that will be
able to strong decisions to
keep finances down while still
Jennifer Miltenburg,
Councillor Ashfield
I'm Jennifer Miltenburg,
and I am thrilled to be elected
as Councillor for Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh. I have
some pretty lofty goals for
ACW, and I can't do them
alone. I plan to engage as
many local citizens as possi-
ble and work together to
improve our municipality. I
want to promote youth inter-
ests, revitalize Dungannon,
support community initiated
projects, and protect our
greatest natural resource, the
Lake Huron shoreline.
I think the problem with
municipal government, is most
people have no idea what is
going on - and it's not easy to
find out. I want to change that.
Throughout my campaign, I
had a daily post on my Face -
book page (Jennifer Miltenburg
for ACW Councillor) which was
so much fun and so well
received, it got me thinlcing. I
hope to somehow use the inter -
net to inform and interest more
citizens in the workings of our
local government (maybe a
website " www.politics-
doesnthavetobeboring.ca?" )
Like I said, I'mthinking...
When it comes to the budget,
there needs to be a balance
between what is spent on tangi-
ble items like roads and bridges,
and intangible items like people
and services. I plan to analyze
the budgets since amalgama-
tion (2001) to see not only
where our tax money has been
going, but also why we are
spending the money in all the
different categories... but I
won't expect help from the
public with that( I'll just share
the results)
Let's work together to make
ACW the best that it can be!

Roger Watt, Councillor
Ashfield
I look forward to my sec-
ond term as a Councillor
(Ashfield ward) in ACW. My
thanks to all who voted for
me, and to all who encour-
aged me to run again.
Four years ago, I said I
hoped to see additions to
Council's "community out-
reach", including a website
usable from mobile devices,
the webcasting of Council
meetings, and holding at least
one Council meeting in each
of the local community cen-
tres every year. We now have
the new website, and I still
believe the other items should
be pursued. I also hope to see
Council undertake a formal-
ized approach to setting a
four-year strategic plan for
community and economic
development, and the budget
priorities to support that plan.
Council is a collection of
seven individuals, but its
strength comes from their
desire to function as a
team. I believe the commu-
nity has elected a good
team. Roger Watt.
Paul Bollinger, Council-
lor Wawanosh
Hello to the residents and
voters of our Township. I am
very pleased and honoured to
be elected as a councillor for
the Wawanosh Ward of Ash-
field-Colbome-Wawanosh.
Voters trust me to be a voice
on Council for the next four
years. I will take this responsi-
bility very seriously.
I am well aware that we
face many challenges. I will
work hard to meet these
challenges. I believe our
township can be a stronger,
better place in which to live.
One of the things that I
would like to achieve as a rep-
resentative is fuller communi-
cation between our residents
and council. Councillors
should not make decisions in
isolation but, rather, should
strive to understand the needs
of the community which they
serve. This will require more
involvement with the com-
munity. I will strive to develop
a strong working relationship
with the people I represent.
Thank you for your support,
Paul Bollinger.
humility and will do my best
to represent all residents of
ACW to the best of my ability.
We must strive for viable
employment to retain our
youth in ACW, as they are our
greatest asset! We must pro-
mote recreation and the
growth of business for our res-
idents, and as an attraction to
reside in ACW. I look forward
to working together as a team
in providing progressive, pro-
active, visionary leadership in
setting policy and direction in
the best interests of ACW and
our residents!
Thanks again! Respect-
fully, Glen McNeil
Wayne Forster, Council-
lor Wawanosh
As a newly elected Council-
lor of A -C -W Wawanosh Ward I
would like to thank everyone
who voted. I am excited to
begin my position with A -C -W
and will try my best to make
sure the residents ofWawanosh
are heard and our Township is
treated fairly. The next 4 years
will be a new experience for me
and I will strive to do my best
and make the voters proud they
elected me.
Glen McNeil, Councillor
Colborne
I would first like to say
"Thank You" to the residents
of Colborne for your support,
confidence and trust in elect-
ing me to ACW council. I
accept this responsibility with
BM Vanstone, Councillor
Colborne
I would firstly like to thank
the voters for their support and
the opportunity to help govem
the Township of ACW for the
next 4 years. As promised I
intend to listen to the concerns
that the taxpayers have with
local govemment and help deal
with their issues in an efficient
manner. My aim will be to
obtain the best services possi-
ble for the least amount of the
taxpayer's money. I look for-
ward to serving my community
and talking with everyone in
the near future. Again, I thank
you for your vote. BifiVanstone
