Soundsation Brings Choral Talents to Lucknow

Lucknow is one of the venues for the well-known choral group Soundsation, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The choir will
perform at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church on Nov. 28. Tickets are now available.

This year, Soundsation will
be celebrating its 25th sea-
son of entertaining audi-
ences. Lucknow is one of the
venues where the group will
perform a compilation of
favourites from the past
along with a few Christmas
tunes. Another feature of the
November 28, 2014 perfor-
mance at 8 p.m. will be num-
bers by Soundsation's origi-
nal director, Byron Ballagh,
and some former members
of the group. Tickets are now
available for the much -
talked about event being
hosted by the Lucknow Pres-
byterian Church. Advance
tickets are $10, at the door
$12.
Over the years, the group's
performances have enabled
them to support a number of
charitable organizations
including Me -To -We, the
local food bank, the Salva-
tion Army, and local school
music programs. Soundsa-
tion continues with commu-
nity involvement by bringing
choral cheer to hospitals,
shut-ins, seniors, residents
and nursing homes during
the Christmas season.
Over the course of its
25 -year history, the group
has been under the direction
of several very talented and
dedicated people. For the
last several years Nancy
Skinner from the Moles-
worth area has directed the
choir, with pianist and com-
poser, Agnes Henderson of
Listowel.

Unit congratulates Grey
County on the adoption of
a by-law to regulate smok-
ing in or near municipal
property. This by-law will
prohibit smoking within a
nine metre (29.53 feet)
radius of any entrance or
exit of both county and
lower tier municipal
buildings in Grey County.

The by-law will be
enforced by Grey Bruce
Health Unit staff and
municipal law enforce-
ment. Grey County and
the Grey Bruce Health
Unit will deliver a promo-
tional strategy over the
next two months to edu-
cate the public on the new
by-law. During this educa-
tional phase, any viola-
tions of the by-law will
result in warnings. Start-
ing January 1, 2015, viola-
tions of the by-law may
result in a fine of $250 per
offence.

ing quit smoking pro-
grams called STOP this
fall. The program provides
smokers counseling and
the patch to aid in their
quit attempt. For more

Paramedics collecting non-perishable
food items to support their
communities

Huron County EMS is
rolling into action this
November to collect non-
perishable food items in
support of local food banks.
The 'stuff the truck' events
will take place at a different
location each week accord-
ing to the following
schedule:November 8, 9am
- 3pm, Hansen's Independ-
ent, Exeter; November 15,
9am - 3pm, Moore's Food -
land, Clinton; November
22, 9am - 3pm, Dean's
Valumart, Wingham;
November 29, 9am - 3pm,
Zehrs, Goderich.
During each event,
paramedics will be on
hand to give tours of an
ambulance and answer
questions from the visiting
public about their job.
"Going into the holiday
season, there is a real need
for non-perishable food
items, so we're calling on
the public to help 'stuff the
truck' said Jeff Horseman,
Deputy Chief for Huron
County Emergency Ser-
vices. "These events are
also a great opportunity for
the public to meet mem-
bers of our paramedic
team and learn about the
tools and skills we use
every day to serve our
communities."
