North Huron Food Share needs
"gardening" help
Every year, the North Huron Food Share operates a
garden, behind Libro Financial & the River Church to
provide fresh produce to our clients over the summer.
We need a large number of volunteers to help "Plant,
Maintain & Harvest" this garden over the summer.
We especially need an individual and/or a couple who
would be willing to be the "Guiding Force" to instruct the
volunteers in the planting etc. and looking after the gar-
den over the summer.
If you could spare an hour or two every once in a while
-WE NEED YOU.
The Food Share would like to extend our thanks to Carl
Pritchard of Wingham who donated his time and equip-
ment to till our garden this spring and make it ready for
planting. Kind acts like this, are what make the Food
Share successful.
We usually harvest the produce on Tuesday nights and
take it to the Food Share for our clients on Wednesday
mornings. Please call the Food Share at 519-357-2277 ext.
4 or speak to a Director and we will gladly add your name
to the list.

Bear wise program
) Tips from South Bruce OPP
Each Spring, bears awaken from their winter hibernation
and start looking for food. Sometimes the search for food
leads them into populated areas which some people can find
very unsettling.
The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is offer-
ing some tips from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR)
bear wise program to help reduce your chances of encoun-
tering a bear:
• Store garbage in containers with tight lids
• Only put garbage out the day of collection
• Clean outdoor grills after each use, including the grease
trap
• Only fill bird feeders during winter months
• Don't let leave pet food outside
• Pick ripe fruit from trees and bushes
Bear sightings should be reported to the MNR Bear Hotline
at 1 866 514 2327.
Anyone interested in more information on wildlife can
contact the MNR at 1 800 667 1940 or check online at http://
www.mnr.gov.on.ca.
