Lucknow's Town Wide Yard Sale
was held on a damp May 1, 2014, but
that didn't stop the vendors from set-
ting up their wares, mostly under
cover. As one host of a private yard
sale put it, "We're used to this kind of
weather around here. You just deal
with it."
Mary A. MacIntosh reported that

there were quite a few sales through-
out the town with a wide variety of
wares available.
Pat Livingstone believes that there
was a good turnout at the Lucknow
United Church for the weather. "The
baking is going well and the hot dogs
are going well."
The Lucknow Presbyterian Church
reported that the baked goods there
were also selling well considering the
weather. They were happy with the
turnout.

Perils of Persephone
a hit
Ruth Dobrensky
If the numbers attending HAWK The-
atre's current production, The Perils of
Persephone, where any indication, this
spring's play was a big hit. The laughter
was infectious and everyone attending
had a great time. Congratulations
HAWK Theatre on another great pro-
duction.
The Almost Famous Players 10th anni-
versary production started last week-
end and runs until tomorrow night
(May 8) at F.E. Madill High School in
Wingham. They always put on a great
show and this year's show is no excep-
tion. If you haven't had a chance to go,
there's still tomorrow night.
Happy late 90th birthday celebrations
to Herb Clark, may you have many
more Herb.
Happy 90th birthday to Margaret Fer-
guson at R Villa in Ripley also.
The United Church hosted a lasagne
supper and silent auction this past
weekend. As usual a good crowd
enjoyed the great food and camaraderie
of those attending.
Last week Pitch -In Lucknow had vol-
unteers out cleaning up around Luc -
know. They do a great job, it's just a
shame that so many people think noth-
ing of throwing garbage around so that
others have to clean up after them.
Bowling season must be over, a sure
sign is the number of bowling banquets
being held around town for all those
who enjoy (and are good at it) them-
selves bowling. Congratulations to all
the bowlers out there, you are better
people than I when it comes to knock-
ing down the pins.
I spent a couple of days in London
last week visiting with relatives and
making plans for an adventure with my
nephew Nick. He texted me a couple of
weeks ago asking if we could go on an
adventure, I'll let you know what we
decide to do later on.
