South Kinloss Presbyterian Church Ladies W.M.S. was held
on March 5th at the home of Nancy MacIntyre at 10 a.m. with
Ruth Buchmeier and Nancy being directors. Before the meet-
ing, we served tea, coffee, muffins and biscuits.
President, Donna Sutton, opened the meeting by reading a
poem. Then we said the WMS. Purpose in unison. Secretary,
Marilyn MacIntyre read the last month's minutes. Margaret
Hamilton read the treasurer's report.
We are invited to the Ripley W.M.S. meeting on April 8.
There is a bridal shower at the church for Rachael Bell on
March 29.
The Bible Study was done by Ruth on Matthew 6-1-21. The
ladies had a good discussion on this chapter.
The Roll Call was answered by 10 members and brought an
item for the Women's House of Bruce.
Donna read the offering prayer. The hymn 'When Mother
of Salem' was sung.
Nancy had a part from the 'Glad Tidings on Maternal
Health: Some prayers, activities and readings were done in
detail. Then we sang 'You go To Your Church And i'll Go To
Mine': Donna said the closing prayer.

Huron -Kinloss' Grassroots Rural
Retreat is bringing back a traditional
historical gathering each month, as
an opportunity to bring women
young and old together to share
knowledge and experience.
The Red Tent Temple movement
will kick off March 27 from 7-9 p.m.
at the centre outside of Lucknow as
an opportunity for both spa treat-
ments, information sharing, organic
cosmetic and nail care, food and
socializing.
"It'll be a chance to rest, rejuve-
nate and help nurture others on a
physical and spiritual journey," said
Grassroots' Linda Johnston. "It's
about honouring our differences and
sharing in community to learn from
each other."
Johnston said they're encouraging
"teens to grandmothers" to come out
and take part each month, or when-
ever they choose.
The Red Tent Event will feature the
film "Things We Don't Talk About"
by Isabelle Gabrielle Leidenfrost and
will share details on being an "offi-
cial group" of the Red Tent
Ili It's about honouring
our differences and
sharing in community to
learn from each other."
— Linda Johnston
Movement that has followings in
Europe, Australia and the United
States.
"This is a sisterhood, not a club,
where we can share and learn," said
Johnston. "The outcome will be
because of everyone who comes to
share in the circle."
Johnston said Red Tents are histor-
ically represented as "Moon Lodges"
by native women. She said during
Biblical times it's where young
women were sent close to a new
moon or during menstrual cycles or
birth, as it was thought to be unclean
during Biblical times. She said it
evolved into a time where women
could be together to share and learn,
as a nurturing experience.
The movement was inspired by the
late 1990's fiction "The Red Tent" by
Anita Diamant and was started in
2007 by Alisa Starlcweather.
That type of learning experience is
lacking in society, she said, which is
why it's seeing a revival worldwide to
meet that need. They hope to create
a sense of community from the
events and grow into new activities
as the events progress throughout
the year.
"It's a chance to laugh, share, cry
and have a lot of fun with things," she
said.
The area will be decorated for
comfort and there may also be an
opportunity for other treatments like
reflexology and reiki.
Johnston said they're also looking
forward to welcoming people to the
retreat, since it was moved from the
house to the farm. She said many
people thought it had closed, but it
had only moved to grow into new
services and opportunities.
"It's going to be a great opportu-
nity," said Johnston.
Attendees are encouraged to wear
something red to add to the
atmosphere.
