"It takes a village to raise a child':
Lara's village was larger than we could
have imagined. In her short life she touched
many people and taught all of us the value
of different abilities.
We have many to thank for their assistance
when Lara passed away. The medical
professionals in the ICU of Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital, Goderich,
and University Hospital London, for their
care and compassion. The medical team of
ORnge Air Ambulance. The support from
the Trillium Gift of Life Foundation. Dr.
Victoria Siu for her timely and
compassionate care. Troy St.Onge and the
staff of McCallum and Pella Funeral Home.
Brian Hymers for an upbeat celebration of
Lara's life. Josh Geddis and the singers
from St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School
for singing "Lara -approved" songs at her
celebration of life. Kaitlyn and Betty for
being brave enough to speak at Lara's
service. The Dungannon -Nile UCW and
helpers for the luncheon after Lara's
service. The kindness and support from the
communities of Dungannon and
Kingsbridge, and St. Anne's Catholic
Secondary School. Our families,
neighbours and friends, who sent cards and
flowers, delivered food, donated to the
Ontario Rett Syndrome Association or
supplied much-needed hugs and support.
There are many others we may not have
named but were all so helpful, generous
and supportive in our time of need. We
deeply appreciate all of your kindness,
- The Garriocks- Mary, Phil, Alex and Maris.

GUEST
In memory of Mary Guest who passed
away 3 years ago - June 28, 2011.
There is a bridge of memories,
From here to Heaven above,
That keeps you very close to us,
It's called the bridge of love,
As time goes by with you,
And days turn into years,
They hold a million memories,
And a thousand silent tears.
-Very Sadly missed by your daughter Mary

Donna Osborne, beloved wife of
Ray Pennington of Walkerton.
Loving mother of Murray Pennington
and his wife Ann of Ayr, Elaine
Pennington and her partner Harold
Kibedi of Stratford and Kendra
Brohman and her husband Barry of
Benmiller. Cherished grandma of
Scott Pennington and fiancee Haley
Ellis, Dan Pennington, John
Pennington, Colston Kibedi, Malaika
Kibedi, Teag Brohman, Brette Brohman, Darcie Brohman. Dear
sister-in-law of Duncan McCallum of Hanover, Muriel Osborne of
Ripley, Everett and Kathleen Pennington of Teeswater, Almeda
Pennington of Mildmay and Betty Pennington of R. R. #2 Wingham.
Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends
and Lions Club family members in Teeswater and Walkerton.
Predeceased by her parents Elmer and Alice (Smith) Osborne,
sisters Lilian McCallum and Wilda Campbell (Bob), brother Robert
Osborne, brothers-in-law George Pennington and Roy Pennington
and sisters-in-law Irene Hayden (George) and Edith Schmidt
(Harold). Born February 10, 1941, the youngest of four children,
Donna was raised on a farm near Ripley. After graduating from high
school as Valedictorian she began her lifelong love of teaching after
attending Normal School in Stratford. She started her career
teaching immigrant children in Toronto and then moved closer to
home to teach at Wingham Public School. On Dec. 22, 1962 she
married Ray Pennington and they started farming near Teeswater
were they raised their three children. In 1986 she returned to
teaching this time at Walkerton Public and Brant Central in
Walkerton. In 1995 they moved to Walkerton. She volunteered with
the Teeswater Agricultural Society for many years including serving
as president of the homecraft division. She was active with Lions
clubs in Teeswater and Walkerton for 18 years, she held several
executive positions, including president. She served within the
district as chair of the effective speaking competition and alongside
Ray when he served as District Governor and provincially when he
was Council Chairman. Donna was also active with the UCW,
Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. She was also a 44H
leader for many years. When she fell seriously ill in May 2000, she
was given one to three years to live, but she refused to give up. As
a result of her determination, Donna got many more years to enjoy,
see the arrival of the rest of her grandchildren, keep connected with
friends and family and remain involved with the Lions Club.
Because of the wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister,
daughter and teacher she was, Donna will be sorely missed, but
greater than the sorrow from her death is the joy that she spread in
her life and the lessons and memories she has left behind.
