Band Program Purchases Instruments
Dree Park,
Principal Brookside Public School
Earlier this year, Brookside Public
School started an instrumental
band program for students in
Grades 6, 7 and 8. The band pro-
gram was started by Mrs. Elizabeth
Stennett as an extracurricular
opportunity for students interested
in learning to play an instrument.
Thanks to generous donations from
the Dungannon Tractor Pullers/
Lucknow Kinsmen ($5000), the
Dungannon and District Lions Club
($500) and our own Parent Council
($3000), Brookside was able to pur-
chase instruments for use by the
students. The students, staff and
community at Brookside Public
School greatly appreciate the efforts
of these organizations.
The Dungannon and District Lions Club donated $500 to the band
program. Pictured from left: members of the Dungannon and District
Lions Club Robert Wilkins, Duane Rivett, Jeff McKnee and Bill
Errington along with members of the Brookside Public School band.
The Dungannon Tractor Pullers, in partnership with the Lucknow Kinsmen, donated
$5000 to the band program. Pictured from left: Glen Gibson (Lucknow Kinsmen),
Elizabeth Stennett (teacher) and Brian Mackenzie (Dungannon Tractor Pullers)

Ar Outbreak of Salmonella infections related
to sprouted chia seed powder
Public Health Agency of Canada
The Public Health Agency of Canada
is collaborating with Provincial public
health partners, the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency, and Health Canada
to investigate 34 Canadian cases of Sal-
monella infection linked to the con-
sumption of sprouted chia seed powder
made from ground, dried sprouted chia
seeds.
As a part of this investigation, the
Canadian Food Inspection Agency has
issued food recall warnings for vari-
ous products containing sprouted chia
seeds or powder under the
brands Organic Traditions, Back 2 the
Garden, Intuitive Path SuperFoods,
Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispen-
sary, Naturallyorganic, and Pete's Glu-
ten Free. These products have been
recalled and are being removed from
the marketplace due to
possible Salmonella contamination.
Those who have bought the products
sold under the recalled brands should
not consume them and should consult
their health professional if they suspect
they have a Salmonella infection.
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection,
called salmonellosis, typically start 6 to
72 hours after exposure to a contami-
nated product and include: diarrhea,
fever, abdominal cramps, nausea, vom-
iting, chills and headache
These symptoms usually last four to
seven days. In healthy people, salmo-
nellosis often clears up without treat-
ment. People who experience severe
symptoms, or who have underlying
medical conditions, should contact
their health care providers if they sus-
pect they have a Salmonella infection.
