FUEL THEFT PREVENTION TIPS
South Bruce OPP
With the price of gas reaching all-time
highs and industry forecasts that the
price will continue to rise, the South
Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is
offering the following tips to help prevent
fuel theft:
CONSUMERS
Consider a locking gas cap. Fuel doors
that open remotely can be easily
compromised.
Avoid parking in dark, isolated areas -
especially for extended periods of time.
Park your vehicle in a locked garage. If
you don't have a garage, park next to the
house in a well lit area.
If you have to park on the street or in a
parking lot. Park your vehicle so the fuel
door is plainly visible.
If you have bulk fuels on your property,

Lucknow Field Crops
meeting 2
Maisy Jefferson
Meeting 2 of the Luc -
know Field Crops club
was held
on Saturday, May 24th
at 9am. Members met at
Roberts Farm Equipment
outside of Lucknow. The
leaders, Rebecca Miller,
Kim Hooey and Leigh
Hudson, had arranged
for Don Storey from
Landoll to speak about
various types of tillage
equipment. Don dis-
cussed the differences
between Landoll equip-
ment and their competi-
tors. He talked about the
key features and pointed
them out on the Landoll
VT and Landoll Drill.
Don then went into the
history of the company,
how it was established
and how all components
of the equipment are still
built in a factory in
Kansas.
After learning about till-
age equipment, members
were asked to present the
weed they had brought to
the meeting. The club
worked as a group to iden-
tify weeds. Members were
then split into four groups,
and using their Annual
Weed Identification Key
identified two annual
weed species given to
them by Rebecca. Once all
weeds had been identi-
fied, Rebecca reviewed
the wheat staging infor-
mation from the previous
meeting and went on to
discuss the tillering and
stem elongation stages.
She then handed out
wheat samples and each
member was required to
identify the stage using
Wheat Staging Guides
provided by C&M Seeds.
C&M Seeds also donated
Wheat Disease Guides to
the members. After look-
ing through this booldet,
members were to identify
if their wheat sample had
any diseases present. It
was determined that their
samples had yellow
lesions with black dots,
and mildew on the lower
canopy, which are all
symptoms attributed by
Septoria.
The club's Vice Presi-
dent, Mitchell Curran,
thanked Pat Dunn from
Roberts Farm Equipment
for the meeting space and
Don Storey for sharing his
tillage knowledge. The
club would also like to
extend a thank you to
C&M Seeds for their
wheat identification
guides.
