The impact on teaching and learning
in Phase 1:
System Principal of Program Vince
Trocchi provided Trustees with an
assessment to date of Phase 1 of the
Next Generation Learning - School
3.0 project. The students in the Mitch-
ell and Central Huron areas, who
were part of the 1 to 1 iPad launch
earlier this year, were surveyed at the
beginning and once again this past
week. Mr. Trocchi reported that in
just four months the level of engage-
ment and achievement by the stu-
dents in the project has increased
dramatically.
Teacher Collaborative Inquiry - St.
Marys DCVI:
Program Coordinator Laurie Long,
Secondary Teacher Scott Spillane and
Elementary Teacher Candy McEwan
from St. Marys DCVI presented a look
at Teacher Collaborative Inquiry and its
impact on student learning. This
involved changes in practice that
included eliminating actual marks.
Using this model students became
more focused on improvement rather
than achievement.

The Wingham Golf and
Curling Club enjoyed
another busy week and
are starting to gear up for
strong weekly league play
as well as tournament
action.
On Wednesday June 4th
the club welcomed a bus
load of golfers playing a
charity tournament for the
Big Brothers of Canada.
The 40 golfers played a six
hole scramble then on to
the Sunset course in
Goderich. The 25 Wednes-
day senior men patiently
followed the group. Ed
Daer led the way with a
solid round of 36 and took
home the award for low
net with Glen McMichael
second and Don Bone
third. Harry George was
winner of the longest putt
while Terry Walker cap-
tured closest to the pin.
The Thursday night
men took advantage of
superb weather with 73
golfers taking part in their
weekly fun competition.
Andrew Kerr had a 350
yard drive to claim the
longest drive award and
highlight of the night.
The closest to the pin
winners were Bruce Boyd
and Doug Vanderwould.
Jeff Lockridge, Ed Collin-
son, Bob Foxton and
Shaun Jolliffe took home
longest putt prizes. The
hidden score winners
were Gord Harris, Claire
Rolph, Mike Zettler and
Terry Forster. Don Bone
fired the low round of the
night posting a 38.
The Friday wing night
was a big hit with Eliza-
beth and Makayla serving
up over 800 tasty chicken
wings.
Saturday June 07th the
club played host to the
Wingham Hit Men scram-
ble. The 36 golfers enjoyed
9 holes of golf followed by
wings, fries, salad and gar-
lic bread.
The Dr Recruitment
tournament will take
place on Saturday June
21st. This is a great fund-
raiser for the recruitment
committee and organizer
Doug Neil is still search-
ing for teams. If interested
in playing give Doug a call
or drop out and pick up a
registration form at the
pro shop.
