A Wet and
Fishy Day
Annual Event at Wingham
Sportsman's Club
Valerie Gillies
Editor/Lucknow Sentinel
Members of the Wing -
ham Sportsman's Associa-
tion held their annual Fish
Day on June 18, 2014. They
have been hosting this
event for 44 years. Despite
the showers and drizzle, the
event went well with lots of
fish being caught, the larg-
est coming in at 22 inches.
The association members
gather and cooperate to
measure the fish and to clean
them so that the participants
can take home their catch to
eat. However, at the event,
the fisherpeople are invited
to enjoy hotdogs and a pop
when they are done.
This year's Fish Day was
attended mainly by people
from Wingham and District
Community Living, as well
as 2 from Sacred Heart
School in Teeswater.
The Wingham Sports-
man's Association would
like to remind people that
there is horseshoes played,
both indoors and out, on
Thursdays and Saturdays.
Plans are underway for their
Pig Jig in September.
The largest fish caught on Fish Day on June 18, 2014 at the
Wingham Sportsman's Club was 22 inches. This one was 21
inches, a close second.

Not all of the fish caught at the

were keepers. Small fry like this little
guy were released to grow up to be
bigger fish. June 18, 2014.

of the largest fish caught that day almost as soon as the bait
hit the water. June 18, 2014.
