Lancers split games over last couple weekends
The Lucknow Lancers have been play-
ing some competitive hockey over the last
couple weekends.
Saturday Jan. 4 the Lancers hosted the
Durham Thundercats. The team had con-
fidence going into this match up as they
have already won against Durham twice
this year. The first period stated off well
with the Lancers firing 15 shots at the
Durham goalie who was on top of his
game and turned all 15 shots aside. The
second period the Lancers got into
penalty trouble and fell behind. Just
before the end of the period Evan Rivett
rushed the puck up the ice and dropped a
pass to Kenny Stanley who ripped a shot
into the top corner giving Lucknow life
heading into the third period. The Lanc-
ers pressed the entire third period and
made the score 3-2 as Jarris Ireland
scored late in the game but that was a
close as the boys would get

some great help from Jarris Ireland scored
a short handed goal before the end of the
period. This gave the Lancers a 3-1 lead.
In the second period Lucknow continued
to dominate but were only awarded with
one goal. Joel Alton with help from Brock
Gignac and Andrew Baker gave the Lanc-
ers a 4-2 lead heading into the final
period. The third period the hockey Gods
decided that Ripley deserved a better fate.
They were able to score three goals the
last one with only 12 seconds which
seemed to have eyes. This gave the Wolves
a 5-4 win. It was an unfortunate end to a
very well played game but that is how it
goes and the boys will have a chance this
weekend to play the Wolves in the fourth
and final meeting between the two
teams.
This Saturday the Lancers host the Rip-
ley Wolves at 8 p.m. which is sponsor
night. The Lancer sponsors are shown
appreciation for their support and dedi-
cation to helping the team. Come on out
and cheer the team on. Hope to see eve-
ryone out on Saturday.
