Sold -out campsite reservations,
headliners bringing in thousands and
money going towards a good cause.
That' was last year's results from the
annual Music in The Fields event, and
volunteer members, Ken Irwin and Rick
McMurray, hope that this year's event
will be much the same.
They attended the Huron -Kinloss
council meeting last Tuesday to update
council and present their future plans
for the upcoming Music in the Fields.
Don't get your hopes up as to being in
the know about the artists, they won't
be announcing the lineup until March
5.
Last year, 3,800 people attended the
Friday night concerts and 5,600
attended on Saturday.
This year, the campsites will be "pro-
fessionally measured" said Irwin.

The group will be making
more of an effort to engage
with residents and concert-
goers by being more present
in social media, such as
Facebook and Twitter.
They're encouraged by their
growing Facebook likes, and
want to get the word out to
broader regions as well.
Irwin commented that
Lucknow merchants were
happy with last year's event,
as concert -goers made the
village busy with shoppers
and bustling with business.
The Wingham, Goderich
and Kincardine hospitals
received $10,000 from last
year's event. Also on the list
of recipients was the Cystic
Fibrosis foundation which
received $40,000. The group
donated $5,000 to local
schools. The committee is
still looking into other oppor-
tunities for the money to
make a difference.
"Everyone will be mostly
excited about the headlin-
ers," said tight-lipped Irwin,
who added that they are big
names.
In the past, the event has
featured country artists: Terri
Clark, Big and Rich, Blake
Shelton, George Canyon and
many more.
"We couldn't do it without
the volunteers," said Irwin.
He commented that council
has been very supportive
towards the festival, and this
has helped with the success
of the event.
