Public Notices Public Notices Public Notices Huron - Kinloss .Stay kr a while, or 0 lifetime TOWNSHIP OF HURON-KINLOSS MUNICIPAL CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR A WELL AND WATER STORAGE FACILITY (COMMUNITY OF RIPLEY) NOTICE OF COMPLETION THE PROJECT: The Township of Huron -Kinloss is proposing a new well and water storage facility for the community of Ripley. Recent investigations recommended replacement of Well 1 and identified a lack of sufficient storage capacity within the Ripley Water System. As a result, the Township initiated a Schedule B Environmental Assessment to investigate additional water supply and storage facilities for the community. The Class EA process included an assessment of possible well and storage facility locations, and types of storage facilities (elevated or in -ground). As a result of the investigation, a preferred alternative has been selected: the construction of a well and elevated storage facility, located to the rear of the Ripley ball diamond at 21 Queen Street. The preferred alternative also includes associated watermain upgrades. THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT PROCESS: The planning for this project is following the environmental assessment process set out for Schedule B activities under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) document. The Class EA process involves consultation with the public and review agencies to ensure that the project can be carried out in an environmentally - sound manner. The environmental assessment process has now been completed. There were no negative impacts identified with the project that could not be mitigated. If environmental concerns arise regarding this project, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the Municipality, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order that the project comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act, which addresses individual environmental assessments. Requests must be received by the Minister, at the address below, within 30 calendar days of this Notice. A copy of the request must also be sent to the Municipality and Project Engineer at the addresses noted.
