Free movie night tonight
The Lucknow Branch Library will be
holding a free movie night this evening
at 6:30 p.m. Showing will be the Book
Thief. While subjected to the horrors of
World War II Germany, young Liesel
finds solace by stealing books and shar-
ing them with others. Under the stairs
in her home, a Jewish refugee is being
sheltered by her adoptive parents.
Coming Wednesday, March 5th at 6:30
p.m. will be the family movie Free Birds.
Two turkeys from opposite sides of the
tracks must put aside their differences
and team up to travel back in time to
change the course of history - and get
turkey off the holiday menu for good.
Upcoming movies will include 12
Years a Slave, Gravity, Walking with
Dinosaurs, The Hunger Games 2, the
Hobbit 2 and many more. To get on the
Library's movie email list, or to get more
details, email lulib@brucecap.org.
Remember all movies are FREE of
charge.
All is quiet on the
West Coast of Ontario
Ruth Dobrensky
It's been so quiet here in Lucknow
that I've been wondering if the cold
and bountiful amounts of snow we
have around us has turned us all into
a bunchy of popsicles. The only
action seems to be around those
who are heading south to get thawed
out, or west to visit family in other
cold areas of Canada like Saskatch-
ewan, right Janet? Wherever you are
heading, if you are going away, have
a safe trip and don't forget to come
home.
There was a meeting last week at St.
Peter's Anglican Church with repre-
sentatives from all the other local
churches to plan the World Day of
Prayer Service, to be held in March at
the Anglican Church.
Fun was had at the Anglican
Church last Friday when the ladies
held a special Valentines Day Soup
and Sandwich Lunch. A good
number of people were out to enjoy
the food and the day.
Many in the area were able to get
over to Ripley last weekend to take
part in their annual Winter Carnival.
They always put on a great weekend
and it's a good way to get out and have
some family fun. Well done, Ripley.
Last night, the Lucknow Sepoy
Ranees held their February meeting
at the Sepoy apartments, a bit of fun
and games along with a few crafts and
a planning meeting was held to work
out the details of a Queen's Luncheon
to be held in Lucknow in April.
