I hate going to the dentist
I've never particularly
enjoyed going to the
dentist. It's not that I
don't like my dentist, in fact
I think he's a really nice
professional man, it's just
that I don't like what he
does. All the pushing and
the pulling and the picking
isn't good for my nerves.
I'm one of those people
who didn't make a good
habit of going to the dentist until I abso-
lutely had to. Like when my friend
reminded me that your wisdom teeth
can rearrange your teeth to the point
where the thousands of dollars your
parents spent on braces goes to waste.
So, I got into a pattern of checkups and
good teeth maintenance.
When I was a kid I didn't mind going
to the dentist. The nice hygienist would
take me back to her little office and
treat me nicely before she flossed and
polished away the Fuzzy Peach candies
and layer of Sprite away from my teeth.
She'd tell me not to eat chocolate bars
before I go to bed and I would tell her
that I only brush my teeth the best
when I know that I'm going to the den-
tist soon and sometimes when Mommy
isn't looking I snack on treats before I
go to bed and after I brush my teeth.
And the whole time I would be talldng,
