HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 2014-12-24, Page 1010 Lucknow Sentinel • Wednesday, December 24, 2014 Wingham and District Hospital Foundation Commends Girls Night Out New Event Harnesses the Power of Women to Raise over $8,800 for the Hospital Submitted On December 8, 2014 the organizing committee of the Girls Night Out Fundraiser gathered at the Knights of Colum- bus Hall to present the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation with the proceeds from the event. This new event was a big success raising a grand total of $8,816! The organ- izing committee includes: Judy Lyons, Angela Mann, Diane Thom- son, Sue Doig, Phyllis Ireland, Roxane Nicholson, Anne Grant and Brittany McClinchey Danielle Sut- ton, Ruth D., Susan Nichols and Deborah MacDonald. These volunteers put together the new event which was held on October 18th. PLEASE RECYCLE td. and silent auctions, a fashion show from Stockyards Western Apparel in Ripley and Chamele- on's Fashion Boutique in Wing - ham, a Zumba demonstration, a bachelor auction, music by Joe Carter and much more. Special thanks to the guys for all their help! The highlight of the evening was the keynote address by Dr. Robin Milhausen, a world renowned sex researcher. She led an interactive discussion on keeping the spark alive, benefits of an active sex life and bringing more passion to the bedroom. Many of the women in the audience had fun with the topic and got involved by asking questions. Deborah MacDonald of Teeswa- ter, the event organizer, and her volunteers collaborated with busi- nesses from Belmore, Blyth, Brus- sels, Mildmay, Lucknow, Ripley, Mississauga, Niagara -on -the -Lake, Tiverton, Teeswater and Wingham who supported the event as spon- sors, community partners, special contributors or vendors. Newspa- pers and radio stations also helped by promoting the event. It was these businesses and the ladies who attended that made the even- ing such a success. All the proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new cardiac ultrasound machine. The machine is an urgent need at the Hospital and the $8,816 raised at Girls Night Out will go a long way to getting this essential equipment to Wingham. Deborah and her team cannot be thanked enough for all the effort they put into their event. The organizing committee of Girls Night Out Fundraiser donated the $8,816 raised at their new event toward the purchase. What a delight to see all the Christmas lights in Ripley and area, and to see the Goderich Square all lit up again. Looks good. The Ripley Agricultural Society had their Christmas meeting at Purple Grove Community Center last week. Directors enjoyed socializing and a wonderful meal prepared by Michelle Lid- dle. Thank you to all sponsors, exhibitors and supporters for another great fair. Recent visitors with Deanna and Morley Scott were Frances King- ston of Chesley; Lisa, Bruce and Sarah Watke of Carlsruhe, and Nikki and Randy Nicholson, Ben and Kim. Friends of Joyce Farrell gathered to wish her a happy birthday at Mary Anne Kukoly's. Mary Anne visited with Delbert Hedley, Merle Rhody and Isabel Brook at Pinecrest. Mary Anne also visited with Shirlely Gliders of Clin- ton and Kay Small in Kincardine Mary Anne and Shirley Mac- Donald had a great visit with Ruth McCosh in Goderich when the power was out for two hours on the 17th. That outage sure put a crimp in some shoppers' plans.
