A Christmas
Tradition

The 2014 presentation of
the Community Carolfest
was held at Lucknow Pres-
byterian Church on Decem-
ber 3. This program has
become a Christmas Tradi-
tion as it has evolved
through the years and has
seen various talented local
musicians and singers
involved.
The first Carolfest was a
Christmas Musical Program
in the late 1960's. It was
organized by the choir

The Trinity United Church
Choir, under the direction
of pianist Ruth Alton
performed "A Glorious
Night" and "Hallelujah,
Glory Hallelujah" at the
Community Carolfest
on December 3, 2014 at
Lucknow Presbyterian
Church.

Choir was the only choir
during that first program,
but the format was much as
it is now with choir num-
bers performed between the
carols.
The local community
churches were invited to
participate in Carolfest in
1974, the first year that it
was a community event. For
many years Lucknow
United Church was host to
accommodate the Lucknow
Central Public School Band.
In recent years, Carolfest
has been hosted by several
churches including Luc -
know United Church,
Lucknow Community
Christian Reformed Church,
St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Kingsbridge and
Lucknow Presbyterian
Church.
Churches that have par-
ticipated over the years
include: South Kinloss Pres-
byterian, Luknow United,
St. Peter's Anglican, Luc -
know Community Christian
Reformed, St. Mary's Roman
Catholic, Trinity United, St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic
and Lucknow Presbyterian.
As well as the choirs, the fol-
lowing bands have per-
formed in various years:
Lucknow Central Public
School, Basement Brass and
Lucknow Classics.

Lucknow Classics Band provided the Prelude music to set the musical tone for the 2014

The St. Joseph's Kingsbridge Community Choir, directed by Marianne Hogan and accompanied
by pianist Laurie Dalton and several community musicians performed "The Miracle Hymn" at
the Community Carolfest held December 3, 2014 at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church. Due to
receiving repeated requests, they again finished with "Christmas Hallelujah".
