RACING CHARGE LAID
AGAINST YOUNG DRIVER
A 20 year old driver on his
way into Goderich for din-
ner will now have to answer
to a Racing charge in Provin-
cial court. Shortly after 9:00
p.m. on December 1,2014 a
Huron County Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) officer spot-
ted a Dodge Charger travel-
ling southbound on Bluewater
Veteran's Highway near Shep-
pardton Line at an extremely
high rate of speed. The officer
was following behind the
speeding vehicle and was
able to confirm the vehi-
cle's speed with a RADAR
device. The vehicle's speed
was clocked at 151 km/h in a
posted 80 km/h zone. A traf-
fic stop was completed and
the driver was charged with
Racing a Motor Vehicle.
A 20 year old male from
Amherstburg will have to
attend Provincial Offences
Act Court — Goderich on Jan-
uary 6, 2015 to answer to
the charge. His motor vehi-
cle was also impounded
for a seven day period.
SPEEDER CHARGED
WITH POSSESSION
OF MARIHUANA
A 33 year old driver from
Waterloo was recently caught
speeding and in possession
of marihuana. On Novem-
ber 30, 2014 a Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) officer was patrolling on
Amberley Road near White-
church when encountered an
Acura travelling eastbound
at a high rate of speed. The
officer confirmed his obser-
vations with a RADAR device
and measured the vehicle's
speed at a high of 113 km/h
in a posted 80 km/h zone.
Upon speaking with the driver
the officer noted the smell
of marihuana coming from
inside the vehicle. The driver
was questioned about the
odour and he handed over a
quantity of marihuana to the
officer. The drugs were seized
and the driver was charged.
As a result of the traffic stop,
a 33 years old male from
Waterloo has been charged
with Speeding and Posses-
sion of a Controlled Sub-
stance — Marihuana. He will
have to attend court at the
Ontario Court of Justice —
Goderich on January 12, 2015
to answer to the charges.
DRIVER ARRESTED AT
R.I.D.E PROGRAM
Just before 4:30 p.m. on
December 5, 2014 a red
Chevrolet Impala entered a
R.I.D.E checkpoint located at
the intersection of Maitland
Road South and Walnut Street.
Upon speaking with the male
driver the officer detected
the odour of marihuana com-
ing from inside the vehi-
cle. The driver was ques-
tioned about the odour and
he admitted to having some
marihuana inside the vehi-
cle. A subsequent check also
revealed the driver held a
suspended driver's licence.
As a result, the driver
was placed under
arrest and charged.
A 25 year old male from
Huron -Kinloss has been
charged with Possession of
a Schedule II Controlled Sub-
stance — Marihuana, Drive
While Under Suspension
and Fail to Surrender Insur-
ance Card. He was released
from custody with a court
date scheduled for Janu-
ary 19, 2015 at the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goderich.

On December 11,2014 at
11:02 pm, a South Bruce
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
officer on patrol attempted to
stop a Red Chevrolet Optra on
Bruce County Road 2 in Brant

Township. The driver refused
to pull over despite the fully
marked police cruiser emer-
gency lighting to do so.
Shortly after the suspect vehi-
cle entered the town of Walk-
erton, the officer noticed a
bright flash, then the town of
Walkerton went dark. The Red
Chevrolet had collided with
a utility pole near the inter-
section of Durham Street and
Peter Street in Walkerton.
The driver was located near
the car and was found to
have been drinking alcohol.
The man was uncoopera-
tive and belligerent with offic-
ers, but he was taken into
custody without incident.
A 33 year old male of Teeswa-
ter has been charged with flight
from police, dangerous driv-
ing, impaired driving, 2 counts
of refuse breath sample, drive
while disqualified, possess a
controlled substance, mischief
over $5,000, drive while under
suspension, careless driving,
2 counts of race a motor vehi-
cle and novice driver refuse
breath sample. He has been
held in custody pending the
results of a bail hearing sched-
uled for December 12, 2014.
There were minor inju-
ries reported at the crash.
DRIVER WILL TRY WALK-
ING FOR 3 DAYS
On December 11, 2014 at
9:56 p.m., a South Bruce
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
officer on patrol along Have-
lock Street north in Luc -
know stopped a Black Dodge
Ram pick-up truck. The
officer found that the driver
had been drinking alco-
hol. A 3 day licence suspen-
sion was issued following a
warn range result at the road-
side. The 19 year old male
was further issued a ticket
for drive with open alcohol.

launched December 3, 2014,
provides tools and resources
to support youth mental
health wellness in Grey
Bruce.
The new site was devel-
oped under the direction of
the Grey Bruce We C.A.R.E.
Project. The Project brings
together more than a dozen
community agencies and
area school boards in a 'call
to action' to support youth
mental health wellness.
Their vision is that everyone
in Grey Bruce will make a
commitment to show We
C.A.R.E... Connect with, Ask
about, Reach out to, and
Engage with youth and their
families to increase aware-
ness, understanding, com-
passion and support for
youth mental health.
Youth troubled by mental
health issues look to either
parents or friends for sup-
port. These are called 'Natu-
ral Helpers: A recent survey
found 86 per cent of youth
want to connect with parents
and/or family members if
they were having a mental
health difficulty. Young peo-
ple state that they provide
support to friends as best
they can but have limited
understanding of mental
health and don't know about
resources in the community.

youth.
