Bruce Power Donates $57,000 to Local Food Banks and Christmas Hamper Programs Dungannon and
Submitted
Bruce Power has given a
$57,000 boost to food banks
and Christmas Hamper gift
programs across the region.
The annual holiday donation
provides much-needed fund-
ing for these integral, non-profit
programs during the holiday
season, said Duncan Haw-
thorne, President and CEO.
"The important work these
volunteer -driven programs do
across Bruce, Grey and Huron
counties allows many to give
their families a special Christ-
mas, and we're happy we can
play a role in that," Hawthorne
said. "Every community in the
area does a great job filling
food bank shelves and buying
toys and clothes to go under
Christmas trees. Bruce Power
and its employees have a long
tradition of supporting these
communityprograms'
1n2011, there were 14 food
banks in Grey and Bruce coun-
ties. With rising poverty levels
and increased demands on low-
income families, the number of
food banks has risen to 20.
"The need in our communi
ties is great, and Bruce Power
and its employees will continue
to do our part during the holi-
day season;' Hawthorne said.

Winter must be here!!!! The
kids are playing lots of street
hockey and dreaming of the
days when they are playing
in the NHL. Many houses are
all decorated with lights and
Santa and I think I saw a
reindeer or two in anticipa-
tion of the holiday season.
The 2015 calendars are out
and many show wonderful
pictures of our great
country.
There was an interesting
show on TY. the other night
showing the ice -bridge from
Mackinac Island to the
mainland. Aren't we lucky
we don't have that problem.
Just snowy and maybe
slightly icy roads.
Up in Amish country there
have been 3 weddings on
Thursdays in November.
There were two tables at
cards on Thursday last week,
in the Dungannon Senor
Centre. Lois Psutka had high
card with a 49. Tea and cook-
ies were served after the
games.
Remember the coffee
hour on Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Coffee and cookies and good
conversation served.
