Bunnies Abounded at LCPS
Valerie Gillies
Lucknow Sentinel
The Junior and Senior Kindergarten classes
at Lucknow Central Public School love to do
crafts. What better way to tap into the Easter
fun than turning the entire class into Easter
bunnies? The students made their own bunny
ears, then painted on some whiskers and a lit-
tle pink nose. With the ears and makeup in
place, the bunnies paraded throughout the
school wishing everyone a "Happy Easter!"
?Haqj&t TRAINING
Anew business has opened it's doors in
Lucknow. Mayfair Training is located
at the former Mayfair Restaurant at 638
Campbell Street. Owner Marilyn Murray -Scott
has the set the four main cornerstones of service
as first aid courses, ion cleansing, music lessons
and fitness.
Scott has been teaching the first aid courses
for approximately ten years. These are ongoing
classes in Sepoy First Aid Training including
Emergency, Standard, Healthcare Providers,
Child and Babysitting Safety, CPR & AED and
Recertification. Scott is excited that "there is now
a new SOS course for children staying alone for
the first time that is geared to children around ten
years old." Classes run whenever there is a large
enough class size and can be given on site or at
another location. Individuals and businesses can
sign up for these courses. The next Standard First
Aid course is May 3&4. If you need only CPR -C
you may come at 1:OOp.m. on may 3.
Ion cleansing promotes health, balance and
wellbeing. Mayfair Training stocks the supplies
as well as the machines for sale for this process of
detoxification of the body.
Music lessons are ongoing for piano
by Scott who has been teaching for
36 years. Guitar lessons will be starting April
22, 2014, on Tuesday afternoons with Lee Grant.
These will run for ten weeks to prepare the
musicians for campfire season. There is a Music
for Young Children program for up to six students
per class which is a mix of piano, singing, rhythm
and theory. Parents attend with their children.
The program is not just for youth.
Fifty + Fitness is tailored to older adults. The
Nice 'n Easy class will run Mondays and Thursdays
at 9:30 a.m. and uses chairs to aid in the exercises.
There is a more challenging fitness class at
1:30 p.m. on Thursdays. On Wednesdays Videofit
will be offered at 7:00 p.m. followed at 8:00 p.m.
by Zumba.
When asked about the mix of services, Scott
stated "I just put together the bits and pieces of
what I have been doing throughout my life and
made it into a business." She intends to keep
adding to the mix. There are movie rentals with
homemade cotton candy available at all times and
Popcorn Days at various times. The next Popcorn
Day will be April 26 where customers receive free
popcorn with movie rentals.
Karate has arrived at Mayfair Training with
Sensei Doug Avery. There are still some spots
available for children and adults on Mondays and
Thursdays.
Scott invites people to drop in and see the
changes to the building. The restaurant and
bar have been renovated into the main activity
room. Scott quips "the old bar fridge is now a
bathroom." Local artisans will soon be bringing
in their homemade crafts. You can contact
