Attend Community Safety Day
Safe community committees are
operating in three of the municipalities
policed by the South Bruce Ontario

Provincial Police (OPP) and
efforts to form committees in the
remaining communities are
underway. Comprised of volun-
teer community partners, each
committee works to identify
health and safety issues, and
solutions, for their community.
The South Bruce OPP is hosting
a community safety day at the
Walkerton Golf and Curling Club
located at 164 Bruce Road 2, just
west of Walkerton. The event
runs from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm
on Saturday April 26, 2014 and
features 4 speakers:
• Francesca Dobbyn, Executive
Director of the Grey Bruce
United Way speaking about
the poverty task force
• Inspector Scott Smith, South
Bruce OPP Detachment Com-
mander speaking about safe
communities
• Jason Weppler, Health Pro-
moter with the Grey Bruce
health unit speaking about
alcohol related harm
• Esther van Beusekom, Cana-
dian Mental Health
Association Urgent Response
Team member speaking about
mental health
There will be displays set up by
a number of community partners
including Grey Bruce United
Way, Victim Services of Grey
Bruce Perth, Municipality of
Brockton Fire and the South
Bruce OPP.
There is no fee to attend. Any-
one interested in attending is
asked to contact the South Bruce
