Meeting of the year on Tuesday April 8,
with 20 people attending.

opened the meeting. Anne Andrew
introduced our speaker Claudette Flury

very good tips on spring cleanup in your garden. What plants
to prune at this time of year. What to use and how get rid of
grubs; what fertilizers to use for your lawn. What trees to plant
and what the new flowers for this season are, also what the old
stapes are. At the end of Claudette's talk refreshments were
provided which everyone enjoyed.
The business part of the meeting was then conducted. And-
rea Feeley read the Minutes from the previous meeting and the
Treasurers report was read. The society has received a Tree
Grant from the OI -IA to plant a tree; it is yet to be determined
what this tree will be or where this tree will be planted. The

Ontario Horticultural Society has a pho-
tography contest for members, our
member Cecilia Miltenberg has entered
this contest at various times and has won
prizes. Eight of our members attended
the District 8 Spring Annual meeting in
Durham, there was 18 societies repre-
sented at this meeting and the Mayor of
Durham welcomed everyone. One of
our members Sharon Nivens was elected
District Head for two more years. Con-
gratulations Sharon.
The society is planning a bus trip on
July 8, with stops at Whistling Gardens,
Kerry Hostas and more visits to gardens
in the Kitchener -Waterloo area and on
to Anna Maes for dinner, for more infor-
mation contact Anne Andrew at 519-
529-7179 or Suzanne Andrew at 519-
529-7335.
A big thanks to the people who have
joined the society, however, again this
year we need a boost to the member-
ship, so please if you haven't joined now
is the time to do so, your $5 will be well
spent. Our next event will be the Soup
and Sandwich lunch on May 14th. The
proceeds from the S&S will go directly
toward the flowers for the village. Every-
one is welcome to come to all our meet-
ings and events. Thanks to all who con-
tributed to this event.
