Mr. Norman MoLeod, a native of Dist, an island off the west Coast of Scotland, and for most of hie life a• resident of Ripley, died recently in Chicago at the age of 62 years. Mr. MoLeod began his business life as an. agent for McCall Bros., nurserymen,, of Lonhon, many years ago, but latterly accumulated a considerable fortuue in land and mining investment's in the west. Deoeased had been ailing for about two weeks and letters from his medical at- tendant, one of which was received this week, said he was doing nicely, so that the fatal ending was not expected by the family.
