Sincere and profo nd regret was felt
in town when it i.ecame known that
Mrs. Samuel Griec-i• had passed away
to the Great Beyo d, last Wednesday
evening about 6 o' ei ock, at the family
residence, Patrick street. The deceased
lady had been in • elioate health since
January last, and far some time past it
was not expected thht she could recover.
The subject of this .°tic°, whose maiden
name was Katie uie, was born in
Detroit, where she s the early years
of her life. Pao ' as married to Mr.
Gracey nearly twe.ty-eight years ago,
and they located at clyth in the fall of
1880, Doming to Wit gham in the spring
of the following ye r, and residing here
until 1900, Mr. G acey being engaged
in furniture and u dertakin g business.
The family spent some years at St.
Marys and Leamin 1ton, and returned to
Wingham a little ore than two years
ago. Mrs. Gracey • ad been for years
a prominent and ac ive member of the
Preabyterian Ohnrc , and took a lively
interest in the vari; us departments of
that denomination. She was a devoted
woman, always mi.dful of the interests
of her home and fa • ily, and of a dis-
position and cheerf . ]nese which gained
for her the highest esteem and regard
of all who bad the Leasure of her ao-
quaintanoe. She is survived by her
husband and thre daughters, Misses
Eva, Della and ora, who reside at
home; Mrs, Curtis, •f Blyth, is a slater
of deceased, and Ca ' tain Duncan Bain,
of Buffalo, and Ca tain Andrew Buie,
of Chicago, are brot,•ers. The funeral,
which was private, t.ok place on Friday
afternoon last, serviea being conducted
