Tired nerves, with that "no ambition"
feeling that is commonly felt in spring
or early summer, can be easily and
quickly altered by taking what ie known
to druggists everywhere as Dr. Shoop's
Restorative. One will absolutely note
a changed feeling within 48 hours after
beginning to take the Restorative. The
bowels get sluggish in the winter -time,
the circulation often slows up, the Kid-
neys are inactive, and even the Heart
in many cases grows decidedly weaker.
Dr. Shoop's Restorative is recognized
everywhere as a genuine tonic to these
vital organs. It builds up and strength-
ens the worn-out weakened nerves; it
sharpens the failing appetite, and univer-
sally aids digestion. It always quickly
brings renewed strength, life, vigor and
ambition. Try it and be convinced.

Of the 27 banks reporting business in
Canada 40 years ago, 11 have disappear-
ed,;eome going out of business, and
some being merged with other institu-
tions, or having changed their names.
The total assets of these 27 banks in 00-
tober, 1868, were $82,744,960, an amount
barely 9 per cent. of the aggregate total
assets of the 35 chartered Canadian, bangs
reporting last month, and which amount
was $901,500,000. The total amount of
notes and bilis discounted in October,
1868, was $53,500,000; in October, last
year, $580,000,000. The financial busi-
ness of the community serves as excel-

Mrs. Henry M. Edmonds, Allan Park,

annoying disease. This medicine re-
lieved attacks of hard coughing and
made a complete cure." This treatment
is also of inestimable valve in curing
croup, bronchitis and severe chest colds.

Farm wages are lower this year than
last. At many points in the country,
young men are as yet unable to secure
employment. The chief reason for it
lies in the fact that they are asking big-
ger wages than their services are worth.
It is an easy thing for a youth to think
himself very valuable, but the man who
makes his employer's business his ohief
oonoern has rarely to wait long for a job.
After an illness of only five hours'
duration Joseph Dunbar passed to his

due to neuralgia, which went to his
heart. He was a native of Gatehouse,
Scotland, and came to America when a
young man, for some time residing in
the States, where he worked at the trade
of stonemason. He was married in the
States to Mise Jean McKay, also a
native of Scotland. For the last half -
century he had resided in Canada, for
some time working at his trade in the
townships of Stanley and MoKillop, and
later moving to the farm in Ashfield
where he continued tp reside until his
death.

has resided ever since in Colborne Tp„
assisting in the clearing up of the land
and suffering the hardships usually in-

IN MEMORIAM.
Written on the death of Jr, 0. Martin,

May lath, itib7.
1 em dying in this western land
With strangers round my bed;
No aunties' gentle, loving hand
To ease my oohing head
No tether near, to speak of love
That waits me in the skins,
Or paint that glorious world above
Unto my dying eyes,
You're kind my stranger friends, to me,
And try to ease my pain,
But e'er die, I fain would see
'¶Vllo friends I love, again,
'Tis bard to die, so far away
Front all I love—alone,
My last words, e'er my life is gone,
Is of my friends and home.
Tell my father how I strove
To fir my thoughts on high,
And how I bless bis Christian life
That taught me how to die.
And auntie dear, who always filled
A mother's place to me,
I can't roward her for it now,
God will do that for me.
And tell my only sister dear,
Though in tho grave I sleep,
My eplrit still to her is near,
And vigils o'er her keep.
My brothers tw., a word to them
Before I'm dead and gone:
Be tree, bo kind, unselfish men,
This world is not our home.
There's another, not a sister,
In the happy days gone by
You'd have known her had you met her,
By the sparkle in her eye.
Tell her not to grieve for me
When 1 am dead and gone;
My better being doth not lie
'Neath monumental stone.
We'll meet iu that bright world above
When earthly turmoil's o'er,
We'll live in purest, holiest love
Where parting is no more.
